Yeah, sounds like you've got the secret that every high end speaker manufacturer has taken years of research and development to find out....... If only they had posted here first.

LOL, these concepts are *only* 50+ years old. If they're not recognized by now, they never will be. There are no secrets.

Any reason why this wouldn't work for a vert?

well I think the little storage compartment is the same. But I think with the top down it completely closes off the "trunk" area. The jl box for the vert actually sits in front of where the top goes, around either side of the waterfall and fires foward towards the seats.

The top does not completely close off the trunk area, most of it sits from about mid-way from the wheel wells and forward and would be very close to the forward edge of your box. The trunk areas must be slightly differently shaped somehow, though I'm not familiar with what differences there may be. You may want to see if you can get your hands on a vert just to see what differences there may be. I still however do not think having a sub off on it's own in the trunk separated from the cabin will sound like much.

This is what the JL boxes look like:

Default vert enclosure

Well put Komoman. Brute force or an IB setup is the best bet out of the trunk in the vert, both requiring a generous helping of sound deadening material (and weight) and build time. Jl stealthboxes are the best ready-made option in the vert as of yet... now if we only had the demand to justify the R&D on a vert enclosure design as a second option... Even if our coupe enclosure could fit in the trunk, I would not recommend it for the vert as the R&D on that enclosure was done for the coupe... only had 4 serious vert inquiries as of yet and 2 were local...keep em comin and we'll see...

you're right, I forgot there is an opening. Usually we use the center well area and plenty of power (brute force like Nick said) to get some decent bass out of a vert, especially with the top down.

The JL option is pretty good for what it is. But like Nick said, if the interest is there, I'm sure he could come up with something killer

The far enclosure is the gelcoat finish. It is straight out of the mould and is the "unfinished" option. It needs to be painted, covered in suede, or the finish of your liking.

The middle enclosure is the carpet option. It is not truevette carpet as that sample will not work for this application due to the hard backing, however it is the 2nd best carpet we could source to match. It is a shade lighter than factory carpet, but still looks great.

The near enclosure in the picture is the synthetic leather option. It is a near match in color and texture to the material on the top of the door panels. It looks great and really shows off the lines on the enclosure.

Please let me know if you have any more questions.
I have a question. How much ??

I just got my sub enclosure from Rocky yesterday and I must say the fit and finish is impeccable.

I have not seen either the JL Stealthbox nor the Madvette one in person but I would probably choose serenitynow's enclosure just on design alone. To me, the other ones appear a little too bland in comparison.

As per serenitynow's previous messages, the top still fits and I am using a Polk Audio subwoofer with no problem mounting it in the box.

I can't wait to hook my rig up and see how it sounds.

Great job, serenitynow!

Fit and finish are very good. It fits in very securely, I slid it in and then had trouble getting it back out for actually installing it. I got it loaded with the image dynamics sub. Everyone I have shown the box to really loves the look of it.

I went a little overboard and am changing out all the speakers, I already have a Pioneer Z1 deck and figured now was as good a time as any to improve the rest of the system. I should have the car back together tomorrow morning so I will let you know about the sound once I get it playing and have some time to sort it out.

Should be ready for a nice little roadtrip to Old town to check out the NCRS show.

I will take some in the next few days. But I would have to say that I am pleased with both the look and the sound of how the car turned out. I will try and get some photos in the next day or two.
