Default c6 speaker upgrades

Need some help here from those of you have been there and done that or advise from the resident forum audio gurus.

I have an 07 vert non nav non blose that I am looking to upgrade speakers in. Just looking to add something with acutal tweeters to get crisp highs that can be ran off the factory amp. All three front 3.5's and both rear 5.25's will be upgraded. The door subs will be left alone.

I like the sound of both the Infinity reference (3022cf/5022cf) and Kappa series (32.7/52.7).
The impendence on the reference series has a 4ohms ikon on the front of the box with a checkmark beside it but the detailed specs on the back have nominal impedance listed at 2.6 ohms. Infinitys site listed them as 2ohms.

Guys in past forums have made reference to infinity making both 2 ohm and 4 ohm speakers in 3.5 and 5.5. Crutchfeild lists last years reference series (3012/5012) as 4ohm and this years as 2 ohm.
Crutchfield don't know no word back from infinity yet. Does anyone know if these actually have a different impedance rating?

If they are different, can a guy go with either 2 or 4ohms? Will there be an difference in sound quality or durability?

Or should a guy just go with the 4 ohms boston s35 and sx55?

Any help would be much appreciatted!!!

Use whatever sounds better to you. Both have been used, no problem have been reported. I personally installed the Infinity's in a friend's car and he hasn't had any trouble.

Since I simply can't help myself... just don't be prepared for a dramatic improvement. To my ears improving the highs in the stock systems (Bose or Delco) just makes the complete lack of midbass all the more obvious. Yes you get real highs and maybe a better midrange, but then there is a precipitous drop to the sub. You'll get a modest improvement but that's about it. If your goals are modest then you'll be happy, otherwise....

Thanks for the info. I am just looking to get modest improvement for now so I will give it a whirl... Performance mods are the priority for this winter.
Then it will be h/u, components and stealtboxes next winter.

Great install on yours. Nice plates. Are you running the components and subs off the one Pdx? Have you had any heat problems in the rear compartment?

Yeah, I'm running them all off one amp, never ran into the PDX overheating. It runs warm but not hot, nature of class D amps. I just replaced the PDX with an Xtant X604 and it's installed under where the top stows. I don't anticipate heat trouble in that location with that one either, but it sure wouldn't fit in the cubby.

I have the PDX 4.150 in my rear cubby and I haven't had any heat issues.... and it gets hot in Texas during the summer.

I have the front channels pushing the door components and the rear channels bridged pushing the sub. The rear speakers were running off of the deck power but I decided to disconnect them in the end.

The 3012's are on sale at Crutchfields for $29.99. Seems like a good deal.
