So, I know the Bose gold is junk but my 92 only has 11,500 miles so I wanted to keep the interior stock. The cd was the only thing that didnt work, so I went to a local place that would fix it. The catch was i had to let them take the headunit out of the car, for a $40 charge. So ok, They tell me needs a whole cd unit $249 plus the $40........ So wanting to keep the car stock I said Do it . Well 45 minutes later its done, I pay for it, go out to the car the shifter console is marked up by a screwdriver in 3 places :mad :mad .
So i go in and tell them about it ,not to happily, the owner come out to check it over, looks at my car ,tells me to come in his office. He tells me he's very sorry and is going to order a new console cover for me, and have it installed. So a bit happier, not much... I'm still smokin :mad , I get in the car and head home all my regular record company made cds work great but, my cd-r copys dont.
Any ideas on why that is? They work in every other cd player I can find, ford, home, walkman, sony, everything, but the vette. Any know what cd-r brands that will work for sure in the Vettes Bose Gold. Its going to be Bose Sold if
this poopie keeps up! :mad Should the Bose be playing the Cd-r's since they work in every other cd player. Please relpy if you have any insight to this before I call and bitch this guy out again tomorrow!!!!
Thanks'
Scott  :boxing

Wonderful Bose technology. I never had the chance to use mine, since it was broken. And it had already been fixed before by the original owner. I ripped all of it out and replaced everything. Sounds so much better. My advice, take it all out, replace everything, you can sell the bose on ebay to some sucker for about 500+ complete. That will cover some of your new equipment costs.
As far as why it won't read burned CD's, think of most of the older CD players, manufacturers warn that burned CD's might not play in all players. It also might be the quality of the CD itself.
That really sucks, I had an audio shop bust my C5 up pretty bad, basically they ripped off some carpet on the rear compartment lid and tried to replace it with grey vinal! :mad :mad
About the CDRs - You can play around with the options when you burn the CD - I would try a slower burn rate, and make sure you close the session. If your CD burner prog has a "disc at once" button, use that. Also I heard that some CD players like the colored CDs.
They don't work in Bose CD players. The C4's players are cheap panisonic units designed 10 years before CDRW even existed. They can be bought for about $100 new in a generic player. They have been and always will be crap. Looks like you just had an expensive lesson. I'd remove it for the day that you want to sell the car or show it with the stock player. Takes about 20 minutes and its about 8 screws. That's $5 a screw you paid.
Instead install a real system. It will cost you about $250 for a top of the line pioneer CD and $300 for front and rear speakers +/- a hundred or two depending on your needs. If you've read some of the posts here in the past I can't say I didn't tell you so. At least the guy is good enough to replace the piece. I'd get it in writing if you don't have it. He probably doesn't realize they are about $150 each.
