I'm installing a Pioneer D3 in my C6 and I'm using a Metra GMOS-04 (Keeping the BOSE components). Here is my ?
The instructions for the GMOS-04 say to connect the VSS wire from it to the VSS wire on the D3. Do I then hook both up to the vehicles VSS wire or does that module do something so I don't need to?
the module gives u the VSS wire so you dont have to tap in at the pcm etc, ive heard that it works and ive heard it hasnt
personally id skip the vss wire on the gmos04 and tap the vss from the d3 to the vehicle vss singla, wether it be behind the instrument cluster, at the pcm etc.
The vss wire should also be in the stock stereo harness its dk green/white. PM me if you would like the diagram that shows this
Wow, that thread is a headache...... Hope this thing works. Thanks for the info. One thing I can't seem to find is where to grab power and ignition from, can I grab it at HU wiring harness (can't find a wiring diagram for it) or do I have to go to the BCM and run wires around??
Ok, now I get it. Sometimes my brain is a little slow, however the instructions on the GMOS-04 list connecting the red wire to the HU's ignition or accessory wire.....the 24 pin harness has no red wire in it......Just ignore it???
Ok, I got it to fire up, but when I close the door the sound goes VERY low. Door open, all is good. I read the other post about not hooking up the brown mute wire on the adapter so I did not, still get the same thing.......
I was able to get the radio to work by bypassing the GMOS-04 with the amp wire and disconnecting the mute form the GMOS. But i still had to supply the GMOS with the amp out of the D3 or else if i shut the door the volume would go down. Everything appears to work just fine,
I think he had to use the D3's amp wire at the inlet to the GMOS and at the wire on the OEM harness, but the wire coming out of the GMOS that's supposed to power the amp isn't connected to the GMOS any more. Make sense? D3 amp out goes into the GMOS. GMOS amp out is cut. D3 amp out also powers Bose amps.
One more ? For those that have wired a backup camera, whats the best path to get the wire from the license frame to the head unit (do I have to drill anything)?
