You have to try fitting it. They are all different. You may need to file or cut a little to make it work. What you need to avoid is getting the speaker in a conflict with the window and its mechanism. As long as you avoid that, you'll be fine. You can also add a spacer. This is a ring that fits behind the speaker that has the speaker mount 1/2" out from the door panel. Not as pretty, but it works. Most good speaker makers make these to blend in with their speaker covers seamlessly. :cheers:

Hmmm, don't know the dash speaker size/depth for a 72. For an 80 it was a 4x6 and you pretty much could put any speaker that would fit in that size hole there. Maybe check the C3 area. It would really depend on how they designed the ducting, etc on the earlier C3s.

YOu should be able to fit just about any 4x6 speaker in there. I don't know of any that are deep. You may have problems with 4-4 1/2" as their magnets are bigger. Only way to know really is to open it up and look. If you need help, I'm pretty much in the area and I'll be around this weekend. :cheers:
