My recommendation for the "dummies" book was not intended to be an insult and I am sorry you took it that way. There are many "dummies" books that are a really good reference, even for people that know what they are doing. It was more of a response to this...

nobody has explain how to hook up the new speakers....
If you believe that installing speakers are out of your skill set, get the "dummies" book and learn versus waiting for someone here to "inform you on how to do it". Or better yet pay some highschool kid working at car stereo shop to do it for $50. That's the normal charge for speaker installations. Probably better than going back and forth on this forum for 2 days while telling people who are trying to help you that they aren't any help.

In whatever path you take, I wish you luck.
I'm a huge DIY. i can probably figure it out i just figured people here could help me out...not tell me to go find someone else to do it for me or buy a book that tells me. Thats what a forum is for...to help guild me through it.
I'm not going to waste $50 of my money on a book or someone to do it for me when i have a computer and people who are usually very helpful in giving out info on how to do it... just not here i guess. I don't want amps, subs, extra sound padding, extra speakers, .... I just want my speakers to be better and know how to install them....which nobody has answered for the most part.
If nobody can give me a good speaker then they i already asked what to look for in a speaker so i know what to buy and look for... Peak watts, RMS, amps,ranges... What would take 2min for someone into audio to inform me about is egyptian for someone like me.
Whatever. I'm done fighting for answers. Since nobody could or would answer my questions in the beginning they sure as hell aren't going to answer them now after i've outed everyone in the audio forum. I'll just leave my speakers the same i guess until i blow one up or come into a million dollars and can afford someone to do it for me.

My 96 C4 came with an Alpine CDA-9831 CD player that seems to be great except the speakers can't hold their own...
What are some good speakers i can find for a decent price. Probably somewhere close to $50-$100 each or less would be in my price range.
I'll only be upgrading the font or the rears at one time so which one will give me better results to start with?
Can the change be done by myself? do i just cut the wires from the old one, and splice the new wires in?
go to a car stereo shop or even best buy and listen to the speakers, thats the only true recommendation you'll get. what sounds right/good to me wont always sound good to you. So trust your ears, not the internet. any reputable brand (infinity, boston acoustics, pioneer, kenwood) will make a quality speaker in your price range so go with what sounds good. (oh, buy coaxials, not component speakers)
upgrade the fronts first
run new wire, it's the best bet and not that hard to do. do it once, do it right.

this thread is annoying, please make it stop
What sounds good at CC or BB doesn't mean it'll work in my car or even sound the same in my car. Different CD player/power at the store compared to my car....
coaxial and not component? WTF is that? just another question needing answered that never will.
Running new wire? thanks but i can't even get info on how to use the old wire...let alone tear up my car to run new wire.
This threads annoying b/c I can't get any information on what to look for and how to install it so i out the forum and people get their panties in a bunch. Then i get mad and then nobody can help after that....just a waste of time now.
How about i just go to the store, buy the most expensive best sounding stuff they have along with amps, subs, speakers, sound damping stuff and have them install it for me as well. costing me WAY too much but hey...at least you guys don't have to deal with me anymore so i'll just go do that and make everyone happy. Who needs to pay for school next year...i'll just drop out and have this sweet system installed instead.

idk wtf ur problem is but everyone here is trying to help you.
you need to run new wire since the bose system uses a common wire for all the amps
Everyone has different opinions in what sounds good. I already recommended a speaker i thought would work good
I don't have bose.....
I already came to the conclusion nobody can inform me what speaker to get... so i need to do that.
But i need to know what to look for in a speaker so i don't just go out and buy either complete crap or something that is too much and a waste of my money. Listening to them at the store is a good start but how do i know they'll work with my system and aren't excess.
and just so you know you were one of the only people who actually gave their opinion on what brand they liked....You and homer3D.

This is crazy, you seem to want someone hear to show up and put the stuff in for you. If your proclaiming to be a DIY guy then a simple speaker install shouldnt be such a huge mystery. There are a ton of helpful guys hear and they are more than willing to share their knowledge. Quit being so indignant, take their help and get your hands dirty. Or....just keep pissing and moaning about how unhelpful they are and how you cant afford to pay someone who is willing to do the work to get YOU a better sounding system
Seriously, what is your problem? In my first reply to you (reply #15 on here) I gave you the speakers that would work for you situation. Exactly the speakers that would work for the power your particular radio puts out. I even went as far as posted the part/model number of each speaker and priced it so I know it would fit in the budget you specified. What more do you need? Do you need me to buy it for you too and bring it to your house? For a "Mr DIY" guy, you seem to want others do to the work for you.

I just said you and pentavolvo were the only ones to actually give some information on speakers to get which was helpful. I actually researched both speakers.
Can you bring them to my house? that would be sweet.
I'm only a DIY guy b/c i'm low on cash and for the most part cheap. I'm more then willing to dive into something i know nothing about and probably figure it out. But it wouldn't hurt any for someone who actually knows more then i do to give me a few pointers so i don't F things up somehow.
I guess i came in here looking for people to name off the speakers they liked best in my price range, i'd then research them and pick which one i liked best. Then install them...somehow.
Not for people to tell me i need to install a few hundred dollars of other stuff along with people to do it for me and what i shouldn't be doing and that i disrespected the forum.

People are here to help out. Maybe they were a little over zealous when they are trying to help by offering a few more suggestions they feel would benefit you in the long run. Don't fault people for that. Simply say "thanks but I am really just looking for speakers". Don't get on their case and tell them they are of no help. That's my opinion. Maybe I am wrong.
Punisher - back on the first pg. I told you 'bout some 6 x 9s that sounded great - even better than the $150 spkrs but for only $99 at Circuit City - I thought that's what you wanted to know about. Now you sound like a 7 yr. old spoiled little brat who's not getting their way so has to pout and have a pity party. That may work with your parents but Good luck with that attitude in the world.
This is a good lesson for everyone. Knowledge is the most valuable resource. A lot of us remember years ago how difficult it was to get information about technical issues. Today we have the internet and a place where we can ask questions and other experienced people can help us. We who post answers feel good about helping out others who need our knowledge and experience. You are not paying for answers. It is not a God given right to have your questions answered immediately. You might have to wait a day or so or you might have to post again. I have asked technical questions and not received answers and asked again. You can also go back through the archives and usually you will find that your question has been discussed before. You can search the whole internet. Go to a website like crutchfield.com and they have all the info you could ask for. This site is a blesssing and if you don't appreciate it, that really is a sad statement on where you are at. We can't help you if you won't help yourself.
