Yes I still lurk in here now and again...
How have you been Scott?
I would go with option "C".
I think that design best matches the reast of the car as far as button type goes.
With the panel looking like a empty plate till it powers up is WAY sweet...
That is very Tech....
Keep up the great work.. WIZ

This reply is less informational than your original post. What is it interfacing to with the PC?
USB? Power supply? Audio/Video switching? I/O ports? PC control of attached devices? I don't see any ready correlation between the devices you show and their use with an automotive PC.
I'm fairly knowledgeable with PC's in general but not with a PC in a car, and wishing to know what someone does with a PC in their car.

lol, sorry.
the pc in my car does everything from playing media (mp3's mainly) to monitoring my engine via the obdii protocall, it'll do gps, connect to my phone and let me sms message or call via the touchscreen installed in my dash and pretty much anything i want to spend the time and money to implement :-)
the panel will be a way for me to switch between applications without taking my eyes off the road. that's the one drawback i've found with the car pc. since it's primarily controlled via the touchscreen you have no tactile feedback and that requires you to take you eyes off the road. the interface will allow me to have a few buttons that i can feel that will switch applications w/o having to take my eyes off the road
