Thanks for your info!! I have dynamat extreme in the vett and I am using 80 mil Rattle Trap in the bmw vert so you are saying use luxury liner over the bute rubber and under the carpet!!

****, 1/2" of open cell foam only scratches the surface.

However, Frost king works well as a thermal insulator.

If you want to use this principal - mass backed foam - your best bet is luxury liner. Or come up with your own foam/lead concoction for best results.

Viscoelastic layer at the bottom, to control panel vibration. Also doubling mass = 5db of reduction. On top of viscoelastic layer (Raamat BXT, Secondskin Damplifier, Dynamat) then you want to put your noise barrier (mass backed foam.)

Even then, consider this:

Your car is like a boat, and sound is like water. A little hole will let a lot of water in.

I have a C6 Coupe and I want to reduce road noise and some exhaust drone. I have a soundproofing mat (similar to a dynamat pad) covering the entire back cargo area. To improve the vibrations from exhaust drone, would you recommend installing Dynamat or Stinger Roadkill against the panels and then the pad over the Dynamat? Do you think this will help reduce the interior vibrations significantly? Any info. would be appreciated.

If you can fit the luxury liner, it's a great product. Just keep in mind its VERY thick!

Keith N:

I have drone as well with my corsa competition. With a solid damping material (liquid paint stuff) and topped in raamat, plus luxury liner, I'd say it made a 10-15% change, maximum. Unfortunately a lot of drone is under 200hz, which is extremely hard to block.

How about Car Chemistry inserts? Its always better to fight the problem at the source.

I would install the Dynamat and put pad over. I have Dynamat extreme in my C5 vert but I am going to try a fatmat product called rattle trap in my BMW vert.

little inserts that go in the exhaust and supposedly quiet it down without hurting performance. I have not used them, but there are people who have used them with success in borla stingers.

Looks decent, similar to luxuryliner.

Kale,

You were 100% correct on the reduction of the drone. I laid down some Dynamat Extreme, which helped but it's still there. For me, it's acceptable and fine. I'll see if it passes the "wifey test".

Thanks again - Keith
