Default Budget C3 System.

I want to upgrade the system in my 74. The door and dash speakers are not bad. I'm not happy w/cassett deck and will be changing to MP3 or something better down the road. The problem is the 15 yr old speakers "Hanging" from the rear deck. I have some cheap amps on the back wall. This is so I can stash the tops behind the seat. I would like to find some better speakers that will hang from the rear deck and possibly something very flat for the rear deck. The storage box is empty and could be used for a bass of some kind. I know the amps will need to be upgraded as well, but that is not a problem. What can I do for speakers that won't fill up the rear cargo area? TIA

Ricisan

PS. I'm not a tech geek so please keep it simple.

I'm not sure about speakers, but Alpine's PDX series of digital amps are VERY small. I just installed one in the rear storage compartment of my C4, and it fit back there like a charm, and puts out 125 watts x 4 RMS.

Could you post a pic of what's in the rear now? My only C3 experience is with the 78-82 style back.

The dash and door speakers are more than good enough for my car. The rears speakers hanging from the deck are some 120 W Sony's that are 15 yrs old at least. My Amps are 40W and nothing special. I would like to get a better amp and some quality spakers that will hang from the reardeck. I need the space for cargo and the tops must fit. Are there any lae flat speakers that I can fito the rear of the cargo area facing forward that will leave space for my tops? How about a bass tube in storage box? I know someone has done this, please share the info. IA

Durango_Boy has some very good suggestions for C3 stereo setups. Run an Advanced search under his name.

On my 74, I'm installing speakers in the wasted space behind the rear fender wells. Also putting a 8 inch sub woofer in the jack compartment. And speakers in the kick panels. Sorry no pics, work still in progress.
