installing AMP, SUB and CAP into stock system?
1 POWER ACOUSTIK PC2.0F 2.0 FARAD DIGITAL CAPACITOR
1 AUDIOBAHN AW1200V CAR 12" SUBWOOFER 1400w DVC 4 OHM
1 SPL FX1-4000D MONOBLOCK MONO AMP
Now, I really already have a sub box that I got from another member here, and I really want to install this sub using the factory unit which I like enough for now. I did a quick search and read something about having to tap the lines from the door speakers to run the sub. Ewww.... I also read something about getting an adapter that can plug directly into the factory unit that will allow line level outs.
My questions are..
1) Can anyone give me a link to this mysterious unit that will attach to my stock radio, and allow line level outs to my amp?
2) Will this much power in the rear just kill the sound of the stock setup?
3) Should I wait until I am ready to install a COMPLETE system (i.e. DVD head, other speakers, and 2-din dash)?
Any links will help. Thank you guys.
Sonicelectronix had the cheapest price I found. It doesn't sound like you want to splice wires but you will still need too even with this adapter. The blue wire in the picture on the RCA side of the harness will need to be spliced into the amp turn on power wire. The teal wire on the other side of the harness will tap into a wire in the factory harness to give your amp the retained accessory power.
Personally I would swap out the door speakers while I was at it but that's just my opinion. I would atleast at a minimum get an amp install kit that will allow you to add the second amp with little hassle (larger guage power wire and distribution block). I would also go ahead and run the second set of RCAs from the H/U to your amp location(s) so you don't have to take the console apart again to upgrade door components if you decide to go that route later.
