The 12 I had in the first picture was absolutely brutal in that car. And being an IDMAX, it sounded great doing it. I had it set to 30% volume most of the time.
It's a Polk Audio MOMO 12 DVC in a sealed enclosure.
The enclosure is 0.88 cubic feet internally. Perfect for the Polk sub.
Others have run two 10's without issue because the design parameters are such that they are DESIGNED to work in this application.
I used to build sub boxes, and yada yada, from my experience I would conclude that the trunk compartment doesn't have enough sealed air volume to get the kind of bass than any 10" sub or greater needs, maybe even an 8" but that may be marginal.
Do you know and understand Thiele Small parameters? Do you understand what goes into designing a sub? If so, you would know that each one is designed and built differently for different applications.
So what is it that you would like to accomplish? Do you want sound quality? SPL? Both? Small space? Low power application?
Let us know what you want to do and we'll point you into the right direction.

I'm in the greenville,sc area as I see you are too. When I get my car put back together you are welcome to listen to it. I build custom vette enclosures and have also built many setups to accomodate the center compartment area. Currently I am using one 10", but have used dual 8's and dual 10's and they hit deep.

I have 2 10" Diamond Audio TDX subs in my sealed enclosure. They are a perfect fit airspace wise, needing .5 cubic foot for optimal. If you glass the bottom of the box and use MDF for the top you can get just a hair over a cubic foot. The new sub designs really let you use less airspace than 10 years ago. I use BassBoxPro from Harris Labs to design my enclosures and the charts prove to be accurate images of the sound the subs can produce. I know a guy with an IDMAX 12 in the same basic box ported, and it sounds pretty darn good, although it is a little overkill . My box is not completely finished in the pic, I still have a grill and emblem for it.
