well how i would do it and IMO the right way is to hook the rear up like u normally would and then hook the front up to the video1 source on the unit (basically the aux input) then when u want the front cam, i assume for parking, u just switch to video 1
I did a similar thing in my truck. I installed an AVIC Z1 in there and my wife wanted to be able to see the baby from the front seat. I also wanted a backup cam as well. So used a toggle switch to switch the feeds into the AVIC. One of the AVIC modes has a nav map and backup camera view on a split screen.
I was thinking of doing something like this on the Z as well but am still toying with how I want to do this. I also want to be able to save the front splitter but having this linked to the backup cam won't work as well IMO because of the trigger used for the backup cam. I want the backup cam to pop on with the reverse gear but still be able to see the front splitter cam without the reverse trigger.
why the need for a splitter though if the unit has an aux input that can be used for the front cam, about to park change video sources and got ur front cam

Most in dash video screens only have one RCA video aux input. You'd need a selector to tell the screen which video soruce to read.
most units have a backup came and video input so u have an input for ur reverse cam that will come on whenever u put car in reverse then go to video 1 for front
