1000nth ipod question!!!!!!!!
i want to hook it up with aux. dont care to have control through hu. i have the 12 disk changer and i found this but dont understand.http://www.pqtsi.com/sedona/vetmp3.pdf thanks for any help!

The relay is a 4PDT (4 pole, double throw). The 4 poles have your Left + and Right + audio signals, the common or combined - signal for both L and R, and the shield. One set of poles for the Aux, one for the CD and one for the Radio or Head Unit. The shield is the braided wire mesh wrapping around the wires that keeps noise out.
Think of the relay as a toggle switch. When you flip the switch to the left you are connecting the Aux Input and when you flip it to the right you are connecting the CD Changer to the Head Unit (NAV, Radio, etc.).
The relay is activated using another simple on/off switch (SPDT). When 12 Volts is supplied via this switch to the relay, it toggles the relay switch from one side (Aux or CD) to the other.
You install this by breaking into the wiring harness for the CD Changer and the color codes are listed in the diagram. The diagram also shows a jumper tying the shield of the CD Changers' cable to the Radios cables' shield. This is important to eliminate noise/hum.
I have a C6 and did a similar install when I changed from XM to SIRIUS.
Honestly, and excuse me if I sound condescending, this is a very simple concept and circuit, and if you do not understand it you should have a competent shop do the work for you. It is very easy and the parts are very inexpensive. A decent Tech. should be able to do it in 2 hours, tops.
Also, be confident that this is so simple that it is very reliable and will not create any other problems, if it is installed right.
Good Luck- I hope I haven't just confused you further.

I didn't think I could make it any simpler.
Poles= Terminals, like on your car battery
Switch= Like a household light switch
Toggle= Like turning the light switch on and off
L or R= The wire that has half the sound on it
Common= The wire that has the other half of the sound on it
Shield= A type of insulation, insulating out the noise
Relay= A rermote controlled switch, like the on/off on your TV
As I said before, you might want to let a pro do this, it is not too expensive.
Or just buy one of the little gizmos that convert the IPOD to an FM channel that you can tune on the Radio.
Again I apologize if I have wasted your time.

LOL, if this is so bone-headed simple, then I am certainly at the intelligence level of an amoeba.
I've hooked up many radios, but all from the old days, where you'd have a bunch of speaker wires, and a power and a ground. And I've also hooked up separate amps and a few subs too. But the C5 has some frakked up "proprietary" wiring and it's a whole new ball game. It's anything BUT simple IMHO.

I am not saying the wiring in any Vette is uncomplicated. But the linked diagram is very rudimentary for anyone who has experience with these things. If the diagram is accurate with regards to the factory harness color code, and you know what you're doing, it is a safe mod that will get you a functioning Aux input into your Stereo.
