Default C5 Radio Fade function

I removed a poorly installed subwoofer install on my '99. All is well but I don't get a lot of volume out of my rear speakers when the fade is turned to the rears only - and still get volume from the fronts. Is this normal.. If not could the previous owner have altered the fade function?

Thanks for any and all responses.

Normal.
The fronts are amplified and the rears are just speakers.
There is a great huge difference in the sound you get at the same volume level if you fade from front to back.

I think everything is rolled off under 500 hz to the rears.
