I have found a local guy that wants to sell me a 2008 Corvette Navigation system for $150. He says he had it in his grand am and had it unlocked and it worked perfectly. I have a 2005 Ford F-150 with the double din radio. Is there anyway that this would work in my truck? Is the navigation all self contained in the radio unit or might there be another module I need. Thanks
first off its not going to work
2nd of all its not going to bolt up to ur dash at all not even close, u will have to fab up mounts
3rd u will need an aftermarket amplier to make this work
4th and MOST importantly there is no 12 volt ignition wire it NEEDS to see a corvette BCM to turn on and to unlock itself.
HE NEVER HAD THIS UNIT INSTALLED IN A GRAND AM, and it DEFF WILL NOT WORK IN A FORD
I have no problem making some custom mounts for it, I have an amplifier, but the third one has me stumped right now.
I could aways run a 12volt acc wire to the new unit. How important is the bcm to the navigation unit. Does it require this to operate or can it be unlocked from it and run without having a "BCM"
But even if its useless, then its gotta be worth more than $150. I outta be able to sell and make some money on it then right?

check out ebay deff worth a few hundred. i wish u coudl make it work but it talks to the bcm in the car which is what tells it to turn on and off and without this you cant make it work even if u install a vette radio in a diff vette the dealer has to use a TECH2 and flash it to the vin number of ur car
Since the C5 Corvette came out in 1997, there has NOT been a physical 'turn on' lead into the stereo. The stereo is connected to the car's serial bus, which communicates with the rest of the vehicles components. (Engine Management Computer, Body Control Module, Door modules, HVAC control module, etc...)
The newer C6 is even more complex than the C5 models. You would need to install the serial bus and be able to tell the radio that it is matched to the car, then 'spoof' it to tell it that everything is okay (not a stolen unit) and then tell it to turn on. (Not to mention tell it what the Driver #1 pre-sets and preferences are...)
Bottom line is: You CANNOT just 'plug and play' a C6 Corvette radio into another vehicle. PERIOD.
