Looks like there are sooo many choices in components?? im looking for a nice set of 6.5 components, whats the best brand and price to get?? I was thinking mb quart, I saw some nice phoenix gold?? what have u guys liked??
Most good components start at $250.00. Take a look at Focal, Pioneer Premier, Rainbow. Speakers are very subjective, you need to listen to the different ones an make your own decision.
I understand most of them retail for 250, if you check ebay there are some great deals for 300 speakers for 150... maybe Im wrong??
Be careful on Ebay. Some of the high end speakers on there are fakes. Someone on here bought Focals that were not real Focals. Better to buy from a authorized seller, or to buy some used speakers.
I've been running Infinity Reference for about 10 years on different vehicles. The Vette got Infinity Kappa's. I don't like the Kappa Perfects due to the metal tweeter. To me its to sharp for high sounds.
I can get you a set of DLS UP6 6.5 comps with silk dome tweets for about 300+ shipping. VERY NICE speakers.
If it were me, I'd go with those, the DLS UR6 set, or the Polk SR6500 series either way, your gonna spend 3-4 hundred, but at least your going to get high end sound. What kind of amps are you running?
Oh, and yes, stay away from Ebay & their bootleg seconds, very bad idea...
I can get DLS amps & speakers for dealer cost + shipping from Hawaii, and TRU Technology amps as well. All from a reputable dealer here on Oahu.
Right now the car has a Kenwood amp running alpine rears, on a 2 ch. Im looking to do a 6.5" components in the fr doors and power all the interior speakers with an older ppi 50x4 rms art series amp. the thd is very low on this amp.
I went with the Focal Access components and if I remember correctly I paid ~$125. I have been very happy with them. To me they really shine in songs with some acoustic guitar. I typically listen to heavy metal (Korn, Mudvayne, Metallica, Slipknot, etc.) and these speakers don't get bogged down at all like the stock Bose did.
My complete setup is a Kenwood DNX5120 HU, Kicker ZX 650.4 amp, Focal Access 6.5" components, no rear speakers, JL 10W3v3 sub.
This is by far the best audio setup I have ever had in a vehicle but I am by no means an experienced high end audio guy. I was just looking for a setup that would sound great and clear at 80mph with the top off and windows down. My setup accomplished that for me.
I bought two sets of these for my GTO. A set for the doors and a set for the rear seats. The quality appears to be bad *** and I have heard the 6501's which are similar. These were a smokin deal but be aware, they are not 6.5's, they are 6.75's. I bought these thinking they were 6.5's but now I have to spend some time and money on making an adapter or a new mount for these to fit in my doors.
