Had DNX 5120 installed along with BT and iPod adapter. Problem I have is when using NAV, verbal directions cause the front speakers to reduce volume and rear speaker volume increases. Not sure why this is happening. Kenwood tech support says it could be install, it could be the wiring harness used or it coould be the radio. (thanks)
I got a PM from ya too, but figured I'd take it here so in case we figure this out and somebody else has the same issue it's in public view.
Please give us an idea of your install. Is it just a head unit swap, did you install an aftermarket amp, aftermarket speakers, etc? What integration module was used(Peripheral, Metra, Scosche, etc)?
I did try something today. If I turn NAV voice volume to 0, all speakers f&R , all speakers sounds is lost. If I raise NAV voice volume to 10 as an example, the nav volume is still unheard but the rear speaker volume is audible. With volume set to approx 15 and higher, NAV turn by turn voice is heard in front speakers along with music in rear speakers. Line mute and NAV turn info whether on or off seems to make no difference.
OK, so last night, I try shifting fade more to front rather than in middle of setting. With this done, rear speaker volume is being reduced when NAV voice prompts are active.
I guess I can live with this but am curious to know if this is the norm or if I have an issue with the HU or harness.
Hmm, could be that you're getting more output from the Kenwood and with the proximity of the rear speakers to your head it just plain sounds louder. Adjusting the fade to the front is a better bet if that's the case anyway as that's where your sound stage should be.

Do you know what speakers have volume reduced with NAV voice active? Example, if I have NAV voice prompts directed to LF, is LF the only speaker to experience reduced volume or would both or all speakers experience lowered volume when NAV voice is active?
I guess I assumed ,and Kenwood tech support implied, that all speakers would experience reduced volume when NAV voice was active.
