That is a great deal for an IDMax, I would get it now. That is a great sub as well and comparable to the W7. They are both way above any other sub on the market. The JL just seems alittle more powerful in my opinion but at that price difference, the IDMax is awesome, Get me some if you can :D It only comes in a 12 though as we speak, 10 and 15 will be released later on. You can read some reviews of both at http://www.elitecaraudio.com and http://www.caraudioforum.com Both sites are great, just like ours :D

 

ID max is supposed to be a killer sub also. They ususally sell for $450 or so for a 12". Let us know where you can get them for $300 if it is somewhere where we can get them also.

Well, i will check but I'm not sure if I can get them in quantity. He is a good buddy of mine so I think I am getting the "friend deal". But, I will still check. As far as the W7 and jl having a good reputation guys JL Audio is like BOSE its over marketed junk. Please do not reply with flames here I will explain my self right now. Also for the people who compete in SQ dont forget to explain that your subs only play a 10% role in your over all sound and a total of 5% in your over all score. So when you hear about all of these people winning using jl subs you should realize you can WIN with out subs.

Lets take the W7 driver from JL Audio. It also has a small motor structure, too thin of a top plate, a progressive spider, its not very efficient, LACK of cone area. put an ID MAX next to the W7 you can see with your own eyes the max has more cone area than the W7. Some of you may think the W7 is way way better than the say the W3s. The difference in the W3s vs the W7s is the W3s have even cheaper materials using stamped baskets and a thing flimsy poly cone instead. The W7 is a decent sub yes but not worth what it cost. they should sell for about HALF of what they do then that is a good deal.

mrkln the 2 IDQS will give you much tighter sound and better output vs the 1 JL sub. Btw the ID MAX 10 will be out in about 2-3 months. It will use the same motor structure the 12 uses.

MHLY01 where are you putting the Focal 5WS.. If you put them in a ported enclosure in your rear you do not need a sub at all. or depending on where you put them upfront if you do a ported box you can get em to play rather low but their air space requirements for playing very low are somewhat big. If anyone else has any questions id be happy to answer them you can even im me @ LOUDSYSTEM. If your going to reply with some sort of flame please get technical with your reply and not just reply with im dumb and jl doesn't suck ;)

As I said Kevin, to each his own. But I must say, synominously comparing JL Audio and/or the W7 to Bose is the same as saying the Vette is just a different looking, Chevy Cavalier. (No knock on the Cavalier by the way). I respect your difference of opinion but my ears couldn't disagree with you more.

He chose those for testing purposes. Depending on a persons budget they could get a high end amp such as Zapcos C2K series its in the competition series, or also Brax makes some VERY nice amps http://www.audiotec-fischer.com/index2.html Both amps are simply put awesome amps. Theres plenty of other good amps but as far as having an extremely clean amp and a nice amount of power the 2 i listed above are awesome. I dont mean to come off like an butt in my original post in this thread its just i get sick and tired of hearing JL this JL that, same with bose. Youd be in shock how many customers ive had that say JLs the best and when they buy their new system from me using other products their story changes. JL makes decent drivers but its more of a matter of opinion if you like them. Like i said before they are cheap drivers and use cheap materials but im not gonna get into all of that. Ever since I became an Image Dynamics dealer ive had awesome luck with the product and i try to spread the word on their products. Ive sold TONS of their products and yet ive never warrentied one of them. I cant say that about JL.

Sorry but you sound like a shill for Image Dynamics so you deserve to get Flamed. But I'll pass on the opportunity.
Your initial comments get you 0% credibility, why disparage JL? They obviously have been satisfying customers and have been flavor of the month for over 10 years now. Of course that doesn't mean they make great products but many people on the competition circuit have and continue to use their drivers in their vehicles. Believe me, I'm not endorsing JL products (My company is a competitor of theirs) but the W7 series has captured the fascination of many end users, dealers and the industry press which is no small feat. Image Dynamics is also a credible company but so are numerous others. Ultimately, we all know that sound quality is a very subjective matter and no one has the right to call another product "Over Marketed Junk". By the way this is a forum for people that enjoy their Corvettes and most will not be able to reply in a "Technical" way.
By the way, what are your credentials? Do you even drive a vette or are you a :troll

there is no best brand but when comparing the W7 to the Max i have to step up. you can buy TWO maxes for the price of one W7 and have twice the performance. Ive seen more blown up, melted jl audio subs than any other company COMBINED including sonys lovely cd players. ( not counting the few nice ES models ) so i guess i could have the right to call jl junk.. you have the right to call anything junk :) just a matter of proving it

Loudsystem - You'd be wise to take an etiquette course from Roadrage. You both are JL Competitors but I can say- just from Roadrages single post here, he has credibility. Why? Because he doesn't need to "slam the products he doesn't sell" in order to create a public persona of how much better his recommendation is. You infer you know, understand and recognize "marketing". Well, having a Master's degree from a world renown business college, I think I can reasonably say, based on your performance thus far, YOU ARE CLUELESS!
Here's another hint: A great many people on here spend thousands of dollars on their systems and they feel what they have is very good. They often like to share their enthusiasm and knowledge with others on the forum. When you slam their systems, you slam them. If you have an opinion, please feel free to offer it and it will be respected by most. When you do so by trying to discredit the competition in order to focus attention on what you’re (biasly) pushing, you discredit not only the products, but yourself. I see you are new here. It might be a good time to re-evaluate how you choose to interface with the corvette forum community.

Guys I am a fellow C-5 owner and i have been competing in the car audio market for going on 17 yrs. I have won national finals in several organizations.

JL is a big marketing company that puts out decent but not astonding speakers. You can look at other companies such as Digital Designs, Image Dynamics , Resonant Engineering , TREO , and a few others that build a simply better sub than even the overpriced overhyped W7.

JL does make a decent sub but you can for the same money or in the case of the W7 for 1/2 its price get a better sounding sub.

the W7 is an overgrown W3 end of story. example of this are the following specs for a W7 and W3

model # 12W3-D4
fs: 26 Hz
Qes: 0.475
Qts: 0.449
Vas: 3.28 cu. ft

model #13W7
fs: 23.45Hz
Qes: 0.4759
Qts: 0.448
Vas: 3.6825 cu. ft

Don't let a marketing company fool you. JL is a decent middle of the road sub. You can find better you just have to ask.

any of the above means? ??????? ok so let me get this straight if sit and post here for a few months to a year then i have crediabilty cause ive posted here? that doesnt make much sense.. so then your saying the people who have been here for a while and like to buy cheap stuff not knowing theres better for the same amount are credable? im not calling anyone an idiot. 1. budget you want to spend
2. car and how much room you care to use up
3. product you already have
4. your goals ie loud, clean, basic, very custom
5. amp power you are thinking you want
6. willingness to upgrade electrical system

but to answer your question
DD2012 or 3512 , IDQ12 or IDmax come to mind
