Well, I am considering buying a JL 10W3, what would you consider to be a better sub for the money
i need more info to answer your question to the best of my ablitity
1. budget you want to spend
2. car and how much room you care to use up
3. product you already have
4. your goals ie loud, clean, basic, very custom
5. amp power you are thinking you want
6. willingness to upgrade electrical system
but to answer your question
DD2012 or 3512 , IDQ12 or IDmax come to mind http://www.ddaudio.com <---some reading material
I am planning to build a box that will fit in the center compartment of the hatch and still allow the stock cover to be put in place. I've found the 10W3's for around $125 on Ebay so that's about what I was planning to spend. For now, I am going to use the sub with the stock cd player and bose speakers, possibly upgrading the system some day. I am just looking to add some decent, tight base to the system. For an amp, I've got a Rockford 2600 and a Soundstream that I currently have running a 10" in my Yukon.
any of the above means? ??????? ok so let me get this straight if sit and post here for a few months to a year then i have crediabilty cause ive posted here? that doesnt make much sense.. so then your saying the people who have been here for a while and like to buy cheap stuff not knowing theres better for the same amount are credable? im not calling anyone an idiot. You obviously think highly of yourself and we thank you for "Enlightening Us" with your "Acoustical Expertise" and I'm sure all the "cheap idiots" that belong to this forum appreciate the fact you've lowered your standards and joined our forum, however the reality is you still have no credentials and you will never get your props by slamming members and their choice of equipment. I guarantee you I have much more experience in both performance vehicles and audio than you and yet I continue to respect others and their choices. There are many ways to offer your opinion and advice, you need to read all the posts here to understand the "CORRECT" way and then you will have your credibility. Remember "Opinions are like butts, Everyone has one but most Stink". If you truly have any knowledge in the subject, advise not criticize.

umm i have yet to call any members names or slam them? so how can a person go about saying the jl isnt the best sub in the world as everyone thinks it is with out sounding like a dick?? i dont think highly of my self your the one who persieves it as that. Where have i lowered my "standards" to join here? your the one talking crap here? saying i have no credientials etc.. Last time i checked you dont have to post on a forum to know about car audio? I really dont care about car performance ;) id rather be engulfed in music than going fast and then having to slow down. Ill drop the subject now and ill try to follwing in your foot steps ;) ;) ;)
I just got my IDMAX and it is a beautiful driver. The excursion on that this thing is insane. I can't wait to get a box built for it so I can drop it in let it hammer (cleanly :yesnod: ). :smash: :smash: :smash:
Well, I've already fried a pair of 10w3s and the second pair are starting to go. My friend has 2 500/1 amps and one of them is shot. He also had a pair of 12W6s and one of them got cooked too. Me personally I'm please with the way the subs perform, when they perform, but I can't keep constantly keep going back to the dealer and having them keep swapping them out. I have had several different brands of subs in the past, and never had a problem with them before. Don't know why this is happenning. Oh and one more thing, I had a 500/1 myself but the darn thing kept overheating b/c it didn't have a built in fan to help cool it.
I have heard just about every speaker out, IDMAX, IDQ(Own), W7(OWn), W3(Own), DD, Focal, Oz(Owned), Shiva. The best sounding one is the W7. It has the cleanest and tightest bass yet has tremendous output. Now, the IDMax is VERY close in comparison, but the W7 seems to be able to handle more power and just has a more solid sound to it. I would not hesitate to get either of these subs, understanding the IDMAX is half the price of a W7. It is a matter of what you think will work for you. All the other subs are very good as well, but the IDMax and W7 takes everything to a whole new level. If you want to see the W7, scroll down to my post with my system in my truck. I will see what new is out as we are going to Padre today for the big sound off.
Good input, MLHY01 - Keep us posted! As the post indicates, I have the 12w7 and really like it. I am very interested in hearing the IDMax though, especially at half the price. By the way, NOBODY should pay JL's recommended list price. There is a store in upstate NY that I bought mine from and it was 545, including tax, out the door...
I wouldn't overlook Eclipse and Kenwood eXcelon if your buying subs and amps. I have a 12" Eclipse Aluminum sub, powered by a 1,200 x 1 Kenwood eXcelon amp (model #401M), It hits extremely hard, depending on how high you turn the amp itself up. My friend thought about putting the same sub/amp combo in his Camaro, so I let him try mine in his car for about 10 minutes, he turned the amp to full power, and turned up the volume pretty high, he decided to turn it down when his rearview mirror fell off the windshield!!!!!!!! :yesnod: :yesnod: :yesnod: :D :D :D
