Default Stereo Replacement

I am in the process of replacing my '03 Z06's factory stereo with an Alpine unit that will make my constant use of my iPod much more viable in this vehicle.

I have read here and there that this requires an adapter to account for the low pass woofers in the door. This head unit has subwoofer outlets on the rear. It also has the ability to use them with a built in low-pass filter. Using this option, can I just splice a set of RCA's into the existing wires to the woofers? Or will I lose inevitably lose them without this adapter (GMCRv2).

All that aside... if I would decide to scrap the old Bose system entirely, how difficult is it to replace the speaker/amp/woofer units in the doors with aftermarket speakers? Is there any fabrication or is it fairly easy to do? Any hints or even knowledge of past threads dealing with this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a bunch.

Replacing everything really is your best bet. You don't realize how crappy the bose stuff is until you hear some good quality speakers with a little power behind them. Install isn't that bad and you can fit 6.5 components in the doors perfectly.
