IMHO replace the bose speakers, you will be amazed at the difference. There are many great products out there that are not super expensive.... This forum has some wonderful contributors and a huge amount of information. Many talented guys out there who have paved the road for the rest of us.
I have just fitted a DD unit - Kenwood 5140 Head Unit, Infinity Amp and Infinity Kappa Speakers front and rear, I did the instal, this is where all the great forum information came in handy. My modified bezel is coming from C5 bearsfan (aka Dennis) very soon to finish off the project.
PM me if I can be of assistance, Good luck on your project..

Tread lightly, I got my Kenwood professionally installed and the guys said that I should replace my speakers and get an amp, the speakers were specifically designed for the factory stereo and anything else would require a whole new redesign.

Not true
you can keep the factory Bose if you want.
I suggest a SOundgate GMCRV2 which i offer in my kits for those that do not want to change out the speakers.
Sounds like they sold you more stuff.
The amps and new speakers are worth the money thats for sure

If you want the 1.5 DIN flip out type I've been very happy with my Pioneer AVIX X1. With this unit you dont need the bezel mod and you can use the BOSE speakers by fitting the Soundgate adapter. You can still get the N3 on E Bay. I posted a How To in the C5 Tech DIY sticky if you want to do a DIY fit.

DEEGEE, that is a very nice setup, Your leather bezel is SWEET!!
Can anyone tell me what is the best fitting replacement stereo for a C5 with Bose. I'm looking for one with nav and XM
It depends on how much you want to invest and whether you're willing to tackle the install yourself or have it professionally installed. I wanted a high end sound experience and went with the following
Kenwood DNX 9140 Audio/Navigation System
XM Tuner
License Plate Camera
ARC Audio KS 900.6 Six Channel Audio Amplifier
ARC Audio ARC82D/4 8" Subwoffer Speakers
Hybrid Audio Legatia L6 & L4 Speakers
ARC Audio IDX 3-Way Crossover With Sub Sonic Filter
Amp Kit & Breaker
Second Skin Damplifier Pro Sound Damper
Custom Kick Panels
It is an awesome setup and very unique. But that was my goal. You may have something different in mind. But that's the wonderful aspect of owning a Corvette, isn't it. The modifications are endless. Good luck!
The N3 is the flip out version Pioneer had for NAV, This is an older model. Kenwood has some nice ones too.
They are nice for people who do not want mod the bezel or cage of the car.
bad thing is is it blocks your air vents and in most cases if you go to a shop they will charge you more for the flip out with the NAV add on than it would cost you to buy a DD bezel and a DD Kenwood 5140 or 6140 head unit with built in NAV.
I had one person go to a shop local and they quoted him 1900.00 for the flip out Kenwood.
I made him a bezel and sold him an entire package deal with the head unit Soundate adapter everything needed for around 1200.00 saving him 700.00 on the deal.
If your looking for any Kenwood or Pioneer I have access to all available at or near the famous auction site pricing as well.
i just put in a single din aftermarket head unit. it was a sony i bought from besy buy. i used the gmcrv2 adapter for bose to hook it up, and it sounds great. i dont think people give the bose speakers enough credit. i do need a real subwoofer, but apart from that, the system sounds great.

this is not at all true. stock speakers will sound better with an aftermarket radio, its all from lazy installers that dont want to spend 10 extra minutes doing some integration with the wiring properly
