How do I wire it up? Power and ground are easy enough but can I tap into one of the rear speakers for signal and is the on/off signal to the bose speakers strong enough to use to trigger the amp on/off? If not can I tap into the power antenna wire?
Thanks
Sorry, but just within the past week I was trying to help Jack Daniels fix a problem with his C6 install that turned out to be a C5, then Shimy86 was asking questions about amp mounting and the 'big 3' that we (at least I) assumed were for his C4 but ended up being for an old Grand National. Then there are the members who never update (or sometimes even fill in) their profile..... From now on I want to be sure exactly what the question is before I take the time to respond.
On C5/C6 the bass signal is NOT present at the rear speakers. I don't have any personal experience with C4's, but from what I remember reading the signal is there. I also recall reading about people using the power antenna signal as an amp turn on. Check out the C4 FAQ sticky or post over in one of the C4 forums if you need more specific info and don't get it in this thread.
can tap power at the speaker if you want but ur better off tapping before the amp and splicing rca connectors in vs using a line out covnerter after its amplified

the amp remote is adquate
OK, everything is hooked up but no power. Ground problem. Any good ground to use?
I'm guessing I need to run a second wire along with the power to the battery for ground? I wasn't thinking about the fiberglass. DOH!

There is a 3rd wire inbetween the ground and power of your amp, REM . did youwire that?
Yes. It powered up then fizzled in and out and I realized it was because I leaned on the spot where I thought would work for ground(hatch mount). I'll double check across pos and neg to see if 12v is making it.
ok gotcha sounds like a ground then, im not a c4 expert hopefully someone will chime in try PMin -=JEFF=- i think thast how he does it with a dash and equali sign for his username
With regards to a ground on a C4, when I had my 1990, I wired the ground to a bolt within the hatch release mechanism, which worked wonderfully.
If one takes off the plastic cover over the hatch release, one will see a green wire fastened down with a bolt, which I'm assuming was ground for the hatch release mechanism. I fastened down my ground connection on top of this green wire, with a washer in between, and had no grounding issues.

Dang, wish I had read this before I ran a wire all the way from the neg on the battery. Works great now. Adds the thump the Bose system doesn't have.
