Default retained power question

When you replace the Bose radio with an aftermarket deck, can you still have the radio stay on when the key is removed until the door is opened?

No, because the turn-on/turn-off signal supplied to the stock HU is actually controlled by the BCM. When the BCM detects the door is opened, it turns that signal off and the head goes dead.

Pretty good answer. Didn't need me at all.

The BCM, PCM and radio communicate to each other over the DLC data buss.

Where there is a will, there is a way.. If I am not mistaken,
the door control modules also decode the PCM signal and retain power to the window motors. You could tap off this to run a relay to control your new HU.
