Default Can't find and American made car amp anymore...

Have been thinking about adding Amp/Sub combo to the Factory Bose system. I've had MTX in the past.. and loved their amps. Was going to go with another one..now to find out all their sheit is made in China, same with Rockford Fosgate.

What he said....

Most of the more sought after names are now made in china, etc.

I love to buy old school stuff and run those. They blow the new stuff out of the water with respect to sound quality. Function however, most of theold school amps had almost no controls save for sensitivity so you'll need to find a decent x-over, which you'll find the same issue with...

Good luck!

Arc Audio is assembled in the US and they make excellent amps.

Image Dynamics also uses a US build house... last I checked at least.

No one makes anything in the USA anymore due to labor costs as well as parts costs. Its just easier to source it all out. Zenon is a good example of a manufacturer that sells motherboards to tons of companies. Don't let the companies lie to you, it's all been moved to either china or south korea.

How do I know? I'm on their distributor lists for motherboards, coils, baskets, cones, voice coils, etc.

Well, yeah. Assembled in the US is the best you're going to get. That usually means a board was manufactured in Korea then shipped to the US where it was installed into the amp housing.

So, basically just like the Corvette.

Yup. Now dont get it wrong, there are some really good Korean buildhouses that put out strong amps that can take competition level use. Then some of those same manufacturers put out garbage you'll find at a flea market.

Its all on what you order from them.

I stock some killer sounding micro amps and can order any ID am in two days time, also stock ID subs and have a few others on hand.

If interested in a very high quality sub system, deadening, etc......my systems prices are unbeatable as well and all under full manf warranty since I am OEM licensed for Vette audio systems.

Have a great weekend

Fortunately, some of this is about to turn. Washington is recognizing this countries deteriorizing manufacturing base and offering companies pretty good money incentive packages to start getting it back. Recently read some article's in the automotive trade magazine's that's enough to get an outfit to build a plant here and manufacture electrolytic capacitor's on shore again. We'll see how this trend play's out.

Just curious, on U.S. assembled amps, what does the mfg. mark the item as far as country of origin? Made in USA? What's typical of the industry? Legally, an item must contain a certain % of parts and value before it could be marked Made in USA. Of course, enforcement is lax for many mfg. and different types of industries but consumers should be aware that everything marked Made in USA is not completly made here. I try to support
USA mfg. whenever I can. The original poster seems to want to as well.

It has been a very very long time since any amp could be made entirely in the US.

I too support made in the US the best I can, in fact I could of gone to Asia years ago for my deadening products but everything I sell on my website and my Vette audio install accessories are 100% made in the US.

The audio gear I sell is made by US based companies and they engineer it here and build as much as they can here as well but it is impossible to do it all in the US and survive.
