anyone here just had sub only without changing any of the speakers with the original nav bose system??? how do you like the sound?? does the sub overpower the stock speakers??
Can't speak to the Bose system, but I planned on completely changing my base system. Installed the amps and sub first (only connected the sub amp). I ended up leaving it that way for 2.5 years.
You should be able to set up the sub so that it complements the stock system. Low end reinforcement. You won't use the sub to it's full potential (depending on which gear you use), but it should definitely benefit the system.
So I want the lower end and have an adjustable input level control on my sub amp. Is there any reason (distortion-voltage input, etc) that I should not tap off the input signal to the door subs instead of tearing out the whole head unit? If the new sub sounds as good as I think I will tap off the right door sub signa, the existing door subs will be disconnected (later to be replaced by 6.5 c/w supply amp with full RCA install from head unit. I have already tapped the 3.5 output signal with crossovers to new 1"tweets up front. (again upgraded when 6.5 install is complete.
