With keeping the factory h/u some say that the radio cuts out the bass response on some cars to 60% so you dont blow the radio. They say to use a sound processor like MTX re-Q5 instead of the wire harness GM for 19 bucks. Its 84 and more work, you have to run power, power switch, tire the wires in to the h/u, ground and its 7x4x1.5. Have to find a place to put it. Is this overkill? Also it has an aux input and sub level ****. I just wonder if the clarity will be alot or not. any input would be appreciated.
If you install the Add-GM24 it will give you a flat line-level full-spectrum signal. As far as audio signals go, that's as pure and unmolested as it gets.
(what I'm trying to say is that the full bass signal is there in C6 with the addgm24)
If you were to try to tap into the speaker level signal at the twiddlers, then the bass signal is NOT there. In C5's there is also a less-than-full signal coming out of the bose processor.
This was what I had on my C5 coupe (adding these -but newer amps- to my C6 when weather gets cooler), in order of signal flow:
HU, PAC OEM-1, AudioControl Matrix 12v line driver, AudioControl DQXS digital signal processor to 2 amps:
1) Memphis PR100.2 100w x 2ch to 2 pillar mounter tweeters
2) Memphis 16-MCH600 100w x 4ch & 200w x 1, to front doors, rears and sub.
The DQXS is an amazing control unit with its wired and wireless remotes. How's that for ideas ...
