need technical help
i just ordered a new 2012 centennial edition Z06 i am sure the wireing is the same for the most part as a 2010-2011
reguarding the buttons on the left side of the steering wheel. my understanding is they control the onstar/bluetooth. if i install an afermarket HU i will only have access to the 5 buttons on the right side of the steering wheel for volume, track and presets.
i would like to find where the wire(s) for the buttons on the left side of the wheel go. all the buttons are is a resistor network and switches just like the volume controls. i would like to disconnect from the onstar and piggy back the wires to the other buttons so when i install a steering wheel adaptor i can use thoes buttons for on hook and off hook with my compatable kenwood head unit.
The 2 BT buttons are in series with the other 5, when you program the SWI you just assign the desired radio function to all 7. What you want to do can't be done unless the SWI manufacturer starts adding BT functions onto the programming list (which they haven't, and I don't think they will).

i have had scketchy performance on 2 different cars of mine using the SWI-JACK from PAC.
also Metra has a module that is plug and play to take care of the onstar interface, C-bus interface and SWI all from 1 unit that looks to be smaller in size.
it actually detects the car its installed into by pressing the buttons.
if you look at their list of remote commands for the kenwood you will find it has more commands than the PAC unit.
its great to know that you can use thoes buttons,
next question. if your able to program all 7 what does the factory onstar bluetooth do when your pressing thoes buttons? i read that if you hold for 2 secs it will activate the onstar. i assume that still works?
reguarding bluetooth, do you just omit programming a BT enabled phone into the factory BT system so it doesnt activate anything?
thanks for your help
Replaced by the PAC SWI RC which works on Pioneer and Kenwood
If using the Metra ASWC which is self programming you will need to add a resistor when using it with a Kenwood. The Metra ASWC reads the Kenwood as a JVC. I have the info for this on how to do this on my shop computer if you need it.
FYI as well.
for the 2012 your only choice in harness is the Metra GMOS04 if keeping the onstar.
If not wanting to keep onstar I would use the cs2-gm24 from PAC

i spoke with the metra tech via email and basically he didnt have any data on the 2012 yet but assuming its the same as 2011 he said their adapter will work.
There isnt a problem with the GMOS04
The PAC is the issue on the 2011 and 2012 with Onstar. The OS2C and OS2CBOSE require the stock radio to be kept somewhere in the car on a 2011 and 2012. PAC is working on a new harness for this issue.
If your asking about the ASWC
Its a KEnwood issue.
The software is very similar to the JVC. So the ASWC reads the Kenwood as a JVC,
You would need to follow these steps to get the ASWC to progam on a KEnwood. It will work just fine, just an extra step in install is all
