Where did you find the swivel brackets for your tweeters? I like the look of what you did with yours, thinking of doing that with mine.
Those were Memphis tweets that came with the orbital cups and 2 other mounting options. Not all tweets swivel though (my new Focals don't), so just make sure they have that feature.

How deep are the tweeters? The tweets I want to put in the pillars are 7/8" deep and I just want to make sure they will fit.

Thanks for the information, I have the focals also and they did not come with that option i thought maybe you could retro them, thought i would at least ask. Thanks again.

They were around 3/4" or so, maybe 7/8", can't say for sure as that car is gone now ...

I was REALLY disappointed the Focals did not have the orbital mount (even the cheap ones do), and will likely go with another tweeter set on the pillars, as the orbital feature is such a HUGE plus, especially on the pillar. Right now I'm playing with positioning the pillar tweets to see where they sound best.
Will be doing mine like yours Thrash over the next few weeks, anyone have any tips to getting the A-Pillars off in one peice or are they pretty easy to just pull away?
Also some one mentioned about not using Glue, sounds like brackets will work better, will there be any fitting issues with using brackets in that exact location ?

Start at the top and pop the clips out one by one. Pull firmly back and a bit angled into the car. Mine popped out in about 10 seconds. I've get my tweeters mounted (Polk db6501) with the bracket and they are still below the clip so I'm hopefully it will all fit when I put it back in.
VickVette or Thrash sorry for taking up this thread...
One more hopefully easy question, my new Focal Tweeters appear to come apart in 3pcs, the screen, the tweet and the cup.
I am a little uneasy of pulling, twisting, bending the tweeter, is there a easy way to get them apart so I can mount them correctly? Nice diagram on the spec sheet but doesn't indicate how ??
Much obliged, way too much money to ruin it on dismantling it.
Thanks

My Focal tweets had to be GENTLY pried apart, there is a small seam that separates the screen from the cup. Thus far I have them on the dash in the pods that came with them, but will likely go with a orbital later and cut them into the pillar, then move these Focals to the doors to replace the 3.5's ... still shuffling through the install. Today I found my new Arc XDi804 amp has a dead rear channel set (yikes) ...
Whew, I got it! For anyone interested, to disassemble the Focal TNK tweeters, you must gently pry off the screens from the tweeter using a sharp point or paper clip as they are just pressure fit onto tweeter. Then use the little wedged u-shaped plastic tool that is never mentioned anywhere, and slip into the slots around the top of the tweeter in between the base. Turn counter clockwise until loose and it will pull away and out of the base.
Now the fun part begins!
Cheers!
Hey Thrash I have the Focals in My Toyota AVALON..They are the best I have ever owned. I want them in my Vette, but I want alot of other things as well. $$$ It is a shame the FOCALS do not have the swivels. The quality of everything else is so impressive. The Focals really woke up my AVALON Limited.
How's it sound, is it everything you wanted ?
Good job getting it wrapped up!
For what I paid, yes I'm very happy. The polks are a bit harsh, but I'm working with the EQ to fix that. The bass is pretty good for a cheap sub being driven on only a hand full of watts. The key now is just getting the EQ and crossover frequencies perfect.
I have commissioned NVTHIS to build me a custom cover with integrated grill for the sub. People steal audio equipment if they can see it around here so stealth is key.
Oh and the sound quality is infinitely better than the Bose. Even my wife noticed right away, and could identify that the positioning of the sound stage was much better. She is the kind of person who is excited to get a new pair of free ear buds when I get a new cell phone lol, so the fact she noticed is a very big thing.
If I did it again I think I'd get the better line of Polk components to get the smoother tweets, but I am far far from being unhappy
