Default New audio install

I finally got my new audio system installed
Since the subwoofer is in the stealth box, I can just take out the panel and completely hide it with the stock carpeted cover. And there I can put the big luggage :-)

HU - Kenwood Excelon KDC-X995
2x Amps - Kenwood Excelon xr-4s /front comp speakers/ and xr-5s /rear speakers and subwoofer/
Fronts - Focal 165 KRX2
Rear - Focal 130 CA1 /just to fill out the space/ :-)
Subwoofer - Focal Access 25 A1
Capacitor - Precision Power C.10F
Custom stealth box for sub from Dennis
Door speaker plates - Dennis
Amp kit - Dennis
Install and custom box - Reseda, CA
I was thinking about adding some lightning to the box but since it doesn't improve the sound I just left it out :-)

I had the pillar tweets installed like this on my C5, getting ready to see if I can do it again on my C6? I just can't dig those bulging mods I've seen. Great job and nice work ...

How do you like the tweeter's sound from that position?

On mine it really pushed the stage up and forward. I think there would be too much separation if they were any higher. The sound was crisp, clear and wide, a great mod ...

I agree with Thrash. My tweeters sound amazing, but I still think the best place for the tweeters is where "Thrash" installed them, a lil higher than I did. I was going to do it the same way but couldn't find his post with pics so I left it for the install shop in the a pillars

Amaaaaaazing. It's my first "real" audio system in the car. I still have to play with all the adjustments since I got the car back this monday and didn't really have time for it. But as I played some classical pieces, I can clearly hear every single note in the violin solos and I can hear the fingers moving in guitar solos. And of course snapping fingers I've never heard before in a piece I've listen to zillion times. Overall, I think I'll be spending more time in my car than home!!!!!

I've the sweet sound of my exhaust, okay a lil mean and if not, there's my sound system!!!

I agree, it sounded amazing (I don't have that C5 car now), I got a C6 in June and will see if I can pull it off with it ...

Here is what mine looked like, notice the tweet is no higher than the clip base and rib bottoms, and about even with the vent bottom. I used way too much hot glue, just a spot or two should do it. Draw a circle where it will go from the outside, drill a small hole dead center, cut the vinyl in small radial cuts from the center to the circle edge (to fold under) and tape them back away from the edge, then SLOWLY drill with a quality hole cutter -from the inside-out, so as not to damage the vinyl. Good luck ...

Is that hot-melt glue holding those tweeters in place? Good luck with that...

I did put a bit much, but it held like a rock (was a rock). On a do-over I'd put globs on maybe just 4 spots, as I couldn't use a bracket there. Point was being sure the case would not move when the swivel tweeter was moved. What would you do?

How do you like the Kenwood HU? I'm considering this unit but I'm extremely curious of the quality of the bluetooth streaming capabilities.

PM me if you wish - thanks in advance!

I have been looking also, and as far as I know none of the Kenwoods this year had Bluetooth streaming. I am wondering if the new units will have it. My local stereo shop says that bluetooth streaming further decreases the bit count and none of the brands really do a great job at streaming vs. a direct connnection.

I was thinking about sticking my tweeters there as well, but why didn't a bracket work to hold it on there?

Where did you find the swivel brackets for your tweeters? I like the look of what you did with yours, thinking of doing that with mine.
