I am considering upgrading my stereo in my C6 Convertible. I currently have the stock radio with XM and Bose speakers. I'd like to get a unit that has AM/FM/Satellite, Disc player, iPod integration and Nav. I don't particularly want to change out the speakers and I want it to look as neat and clean as possible. I am definitely going to have a professional do it, because it just ain't in my wheelhouse.
Now for the questions -
What unit would you recommend for my needs?
What do you expect the cost would be for the unit and installation?
you should get in touch with Dennis (c5bearsfan). he runs double d mods. the consensus is that kenwood head units have better nav and that pioneer head units have better ipod integration. the top-dog kenwood head unit is the DNX-9990HD. i have upgraded my entire system except for the head unit. if i were to buy a head unit then the 9990HD is what i would get. you can do the install yourself, its not that tough and there are plenty of resources on this website.

The 9990HD has shipped to us 3 days ago.
We have 50 coming in
however all 50 are sold
Just got off the phone with Kenwood and they have ZERO left in inventory as of this morning. I am trying to get more
Call me if you want to know more info on the 9990HD or any other radios I might have
I appreciate the info. Dennis - I just may end up reaching out to you.
Can either of you (or anybody) tell me how involved this would be to install? As I say - it is not really one of my skills. I can do some basic stuff, but I usually leave the more detailed stuff to the pros.
Removing the center console is very easy. The first time may be tricky, but there should be nothing to fear. There are plenty of tutorials in the FAQ and stickies.
Dennis sells head units and can pre-wire them to make the install extra easy. Installing a head unit should be easier than installing an amp/speakers/sub.
