Default Won't read MAP disc

My 2007 has decided to take a vacation during my trip up to Cincinnati. Luckily, it's easy to get from Jax to Cinn.

The error message is something about not being able to read the MAP disc as I tried to eject the disc, it was really not too happy about letting it eject. It took repeated button pushes to get the disc in the HU out of the unit.

So, I'm starting to believe that it took a dump and I've been shopping around for a replacement (Pioneer Z140BH)

I have extended warranty and I'm inside of the coverage so, what does a new replacement GM head offer to me? Blue tooth? DVD? Camera? None of the above?

If my radio/NAV is covered by warranty, it'll only cost me $200 but what do I have at the end with the new HU?

You'd prob end up with an identical radio if they have one available. Maybe you'll pick up an aux in port, but the other stuff wouldn't work in your car even if the radio had it available.

No oem C6 Nav units have rear cameras or DVD capabilities

Hmmm.... Sounds more and more that an OEM replacement is not going to make me satisfied with what it offers compared to what I want.

When I get home I'll order the replacement radio/NAV and be done with this.

Thanks,

Elmer

On the way back from Cincinnati, I got the NAV to read the 2012 disc again! Yayyyy me!

It ran showing me where I was on the way back... Being the inquisitive one, I decided to crank it up a click and ask for it to find me a way "Home". It dutifully tossed up the progress bar as it eagerly did my bidding to find me a way home... The bar just didn't quite make it all the way to the right side and it said, I can't read this damn disc fool! I told you that already!

So, I opened the face, ejected the disk, let it take the disc back in and "BAM!!!" the map popped back up showing me where I was currently sitting (er.. driving). I let it go for an hour or so and then I decided to give it another wedgie. "Show me the way home beast and be quick about it!" Again the progress bar flashed up and the little thing started moving to the right side for a way home.

BAM!!! The bar just didn't quite make it all the way to the right side and it said, I can't read this damn disc fool! I told you that already!

It never read the disc again, I am sad now. I think I hurt it's feelings. I am going to try with my V5 NAV discs and see if it has second thoughts on calculating routes.

Aftermarket system is in my future for sure.
