Previously i added a Pioneer Avic 940 to my 2005 C6 I seem to be doing the stereo a step at a time, I like the Avic with the bluetooth and Nav, but was a little disappointed with the stereo, I thought the stock speakers would sound better with the new radio, guess i was wrong so i'm now planning on adding an amp and changing the speakers, I took the door apart and am making a plate to add Polk 6.5 speakers in the door using 1/4" MDF as suggested here on the forum, heres what I was thinking of doing Polk 6.25 in the doors, Polk 3.25 in the door or change to tweeters or maybe tweets and 3.25 in the door ? not sure which would be better, then Polk 5.25 in the rear and also add an amp, any suggestions on which amp to go with and where is the best place to put the amp, not crazy about losing trunk space and was thinking behind the seat, just not sure if it would over heat there, hopefully i can get it right this time so i don't have to take the dash and console apart again. as always Thanks for the help.
The oem door subs aren't much to brag about, but if you remove them you will lose bass compared to amped components. If you like solid bass you'll want to plan on adding a rear sub also
Easiest way to accomplish both is to get one 4-channel amp and bridge channels 3/4 to the sub, just in case you want to plan ahead.

Good advice. Even better is if you have a convertible, get the five channel amp and run the doors and rears off 4 channels and the rear sub off the fifth.
You lose a lot of sound with that top down.
Otherwise, like Mark said, you are running the front components off the new amp and the rears off the HU, and using the two remaining channels of the new amp for the sub. In fact, that may be the cheapest and best way to go for a coupe - amp, sub and a set of components in the doors.
