Hey everyone. I'm new to the site and recently purchased a 2012 Grand Sport 1LT. I have found an oem Nav unit that I would like to install into my car. I'm not too concerned at this moment about bluetooth, etc., just mainly want the oem system to work properly.
I know a lot of people will probably suggest I go aftermarket, but I'm pretty much dead set on the oem Nav system.
My main question is can I install this into my car without too much hassle/work. I once read that it won't work without the Bose amplifier that comes in the 2LT and up. Any help offered will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
It won't work? It seems as if I just were to ensure that all the wires were connected correctly (speakers, power, antenna, etc) it should work. ???
If I had the correct wiring harness will the Nav still not work?
Just will not work on a 2012 base GS 1LT with the base radio. It would be a lot of install work and a lot of extra cost to make the car ready for a nav radio. There are a lot more things that have to be integrated into the car if it has the nav radio other than the radio itself that are not included in the 1LT. I really like the nav radio in mine and the thing I like most is that the upcoming turn info is integrated into the HUD windshield display.
Aftermarket is your only viable choice and Kenwood is a very good nav system.
@RJRSW : thank you for your assistance. Im disappointed that installing oem into a 1LT would be so difficult and intense. What a shame. I wish now I would've spent a little more for the 2LT

Learned that lesson a long time ago. It cost way more later and if you buy a car with everything you wanted on it you keep it much longer and far easier and quicker to sell it later when you are ready for the next have to have vette.
I have owned around 25 vettes and the last one I bought that did not have the top option package and nearly every option installed that was offered from the factory that model year was in 1984. My latest one is a convert and the only option it is missing is two tone seats.
i put the eom one in my wifes 05
very easy to do
i personally like the "look" of the factory NAV, but absolutely hate the phucken thing functionality wise, especially compared to our Accord
from what i was told, you have to have the Bose system for it to work (like oem, meaning plug in and all)
I know it seems like I'm beating a dead horse, and maybe stubborn but I guess I'm having a hard time believing I cannot get a oem Nav to work in my situation. I'm not concerned with HUD integration or Bluetooth. All I want is sound, navigation and the volume, track change steering wheel controls. Maybe I just don't want to subcome to the truth. Lol.
Contact Dennis at DD mods. He is a forum sponsor and can set you up with everything you will need to do a aftermarket Kenwood unit. He supplied everything I needed for my C5 convert.

Hi this is dave. I just installed a nav system out of a 2010 into my 2009 and it worked fine. It doesn't matter if its bose system or not.
You might want to check the FAQ and see if the info is there. You might also want to look at the C6 wiring diagrams to see if your option code changed the wiring/plugs in your car.
I'd check for you but I'm on my phone at a bar, drinking a cold beer.
