I have an 88 coupe and the interior is pretty much mint and original looking. I even went as far as removing the factory bose deck and replaced it with a delco similar looking deck with a custom mp3/ipod jack built in it. There are boston acoustics speakers in the original spots but it lacks that bass punch. I was looking into custom boxes that fit in the rear hatch and mold into or blend with the back. Any ideas or pics?
actually I put them in the wall ( dual 10") behind the seat and put a small amp in one compartment. All was hidden and could not even tell it was there.
After you pull all the carpet out it is just a thin sheetmetal ledge. You will have to be very carefull to fit the sub however as long as you measure and outline the area to cut you will be fine.
After sub was installed you will need to place a divider in the storage area to create a box like you see in the photos above. Then a little cunning on the carpet and good to go. I also added a 1 inch hole next to the sub to vent the box.
