Re: Digital Time Correction? Subwoofer Phase Control? (sacarmic)
I was just reading about it and it sounds pretty amazing. I do not plan on having video in my car but I imagine that cd's or other audio would sound pretty fantastic as well. I bet it costs a pretty penny though. :cry
Re: Digital Time Correction? Subwoofer Phase Control? (sacarmic)
Yep, that is where I was looking at it... it is mighty, mighty nice. I had an Alpine when I left for college back in 1981. That radio lasted me all the way to my senior year and survived many road trips and parties...hehe... I need to get back into Alpine again I presume. Will do some serious begging on my birthday... in 7 days...woot! oh, darn I turn 40 what in the hell am I wooting about... :cry :U :mad    :cuss

I do have 3 - 15" power subs in my home though... they sound pretty awesome. I like having all THX Ultra certified components and speakers. Listening in 6.1 is pretty nice I must admit.
 And your wife allows that.
I'm using a Velodyne HGS-12, couldn't imagine anymore. Well, I could, but the neighbors wouldn't like it :smash:
BTW, you do know the THX doesn't do 6.1, just 5.1 Matrixed correct
Re: Digital Time Correction? Subwoofer Phase Control? (M396 #00-011)
I didn't actually know that but I thought that the extra speakers on both the left and right sides in conjunction with the other speakers in the 5.1 setup comprised the 6.1. I must have been misled. My receiver also says 7.1 but I thought that was matrixed.
That is a pretty nice sub that you have. I bought the Atlantic Technology 450 THX Ultra package. With two extra subs. The room that it is in isn't exactly the best for home theatre but until either I move or build another room for my theatre system... oh well...
What do you all think about the Clarion DXZ-925 HU? I have my wife talked into returning the JVC I put in last week and getting a new one... any recommendations. I am looking at either an Alpine that we are talking about or Clarion, Nakamichi etc.... I might be able to lend a hand if I am on the same page as you all...hehe.. :yesnod:
From: Frankenstein never scared me. Marsupials do, because they're fassst…and they DART, THAT'S crazy!

Re: Digital Time Correction? Subwoofer Phase Control? (sacarmic)
I use time correction in all of my vehicles. As JackAttack said, it delays the sound so it arrives from all drivers at the same time. I think it really helps in autos because there can be such a huge difference between right and left distances for a specific listener.
Proper time alignment really works best when all the drivers have been x'dover active, or very close together if passive.
hope that helps.

Yep, I use time correction on all my car audio systems as well as my Home Theater systems. It makes a HUGE difference in correct imaging. I find the best spot to focus the soundstage for me is just under the rear view mirror on the driver side. (Optimum for driver listening) and always use active crossovers even in conjunction with passive ones.
