Default Need some help with my system!

My setup is focal 6.5 165. Focal tweeters I believe they are tn-47 I read these are not so great?? Jl amp 600 hd 4 channel. My questions are....1- how many rca cables do I need? 2- I don't have a sub yet to go with this amp not sure on what to buy? But I want a 10" sub mounted in the trunk. And last how would I bridge this amp...thanks

Not the biggest Focal tweeter fan-but Focals are a good speaker. As it stands now, you can hook up the speakers and sub to this amp.In this case I would hook the fronts to channels 1 & 2 and use the passive crossover. Bridge channels 3 & 4 for 300W. Match the 10" sub to this power output as it's not all that high.
Depending on where you want to go and what HU you are using, you might want a DSP to break out the fronts from the passive x-over and go active.
You would need 2 pair of RCA' One pair connect to the front L/R and one for the sub (which will run mono). I believe that amp has high/low pass filtering. Set the sub to low pass and the the front to full and let the x-over do the work

I'd use amp ch 1&2 for fronts thru passive crossovers and amp ch 3&4 bridged to sub.

A single 4-channel RCA cable or two 2-channel cables are needed.

An Arc 10D2 sub would work great

Connect HU front RCA outputs to amp front channels, and HU sub RCA outputs to amp rear channels.

On HU setup, set front output to HPF on with cutoff of 100 Hz (can be adjusted later if needed), set sub output LPF to 100 Hz.

On amp, adjust *****/switches to...

Rears: LP, 12, half way between 80-250, all the way down, low

General: 4, rear, f+r

Fronts: low, all the way down, 80, 12, HP

Connect front left & right speaker outputs to inputs on passive crossovers.

Use rear/left (+) and rear/right (-) speaker terminals to feed a 4ohm sub... single coil is easy (+ to + and - to -), if dual coil 2 ohm sub then connect amp + to sub1 +, sub1 - to sub 2 +, and sub2 - to amp -

Once everything is connected you can adjust the Input Sens *****. Start with a 50Hz tone. Set radio to 75% of max output volume and play the tone on repeat. Turn up amp rear gain **** until sub clips (it will be obvious on the sub, it goes from a smooth rumble to a nasty farting sound), once you hear the clipping turn **** back down until it stops. Note the location and turn it back to 0. If HU has a sub polarity adjustment you can play with it to see what sounds better, but if all wires are connected properly it is usually better when off or normal.

For the fronts you can play 500/1000/2500Hz tones and find the max safe level (2500 may be higher than 500, set to the lower limit), or just use music that has a full sound. Do the same adjustments as with sub, but leave gain **** in proper position.

Turn radio volume down to comfortable listening level, adjust sub gain up to max safe level from sub test. Now listen to the music, if you're lucky it will blend properly, if not turn down the one that is overpowering the other (make sure you don't go above predetermined max safe gain level from earlier tests, that's how speakers get blown when you crank it up).

I'd stay with the ones that came with the set. If you don't have them match them up

I was thinking of getting these V30-XO - Focal 2 Way Passive Crossovers! Is there any reason why I should stay with active over passive? Well scratch that it seems you just can't buy any crossovers!! Wtf!

Which 165 series did you purchase? If new they would have come with a x-over. I'd find out what came with them and use that.

I'd reach out to Focal and see what they recommend. Also check to see if they are genuine. There are a lot of knock-offs that look very similar

That is exactly what you need, what makes you think they don't work?

An active crossover is installed on the line-level signal before the amp, which would make you use all 4 of your amp channels on the fronts (one for each speaker). They almost always have RCA connectors.

The passives that you have (with the screw terminals) are installed on the speaker level signal
