Default Swapped H/U and Sub does not work

I bought a project 02 Z06 and the audio system was definitely an amateur job at best. What I started with (https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...lp-needed.html). Essentially the speaker wires were cut on the h/u harness and spliced to aftermarket speaker wires that ran to a 5 channel amp. All component speakers and the sub were run off a massive JL amp that was inconveniently located under the passenger seat. With the help of some members on here I got it all hooked up correctly and everything functioned.

I decided I wanted a better looking h/u and to just run the speakers through the new h/u and only power the sub with a smaller amp so everything would be cleaner and I could completely hide the amp.

I spliced all the wires back to the h/u harness and all speakers are wired correctly and function through the new head unit. The RCA cables are plugged in for the sub and remote wire stay hooked up as they were.

I now have absolutely no sub function. The remote wire is correct. I have power and ground and the amp lights up as it should. I have swapped the RCA cables and the speaker cables running from the amp to the sub to rule those out. I have used two different amps; one that is brand new and the other that I had previously used and worked a few days ago. I have also swapped to the old head unit and still absolutely no sub function.

On the new head unit, it has EQ settings for the sub but I didn't see an option to turn it on/off. On the old one, it does have a setting to turn the sub on/off and of course I selected on and cycled from off to on and still nothing...

1. The only things changed were splicing the speaker wires on the h/u harness. I don't understand how that could impact the sub.
2. The only thing I have not swapped is the actual sub because I don't have another one laying around. Is there anyway to test the sub with a multimeter or probe the speaker wires going to it?

Any troubleshooting help would be appreciated. If I need to provide any additional info...fire away. I'm at a loss at this point.

Update: I just thought to check the sub woofer for continuity. It is a 4ohm DVC Kicker 10" and I've got it wired for 8ohms. I pulled the speaker wires and replaced with the leads of my multimeter and sure enough...7ohms. What could I possibly check from here?

Should I be getting voltage from RCA cables or on the speaker wire at the sub? Is there any other way to use my multi-meter to test where the problem lies in the system? I've been youtubing how to troubleshoot without avail.

So far I've:
Swapped RCA cables
Swapped head units
Swapped speaker wire
Swapped amps
checked for 12v at the amp for power souce
ohmed out the sub and got 7ohms - it's wired for 8ohms

All door speakers are working properly. The sub is not at all functioning.

1. hook up your sub to your home stereo to see if works there.
2. hook up another speaker to the sub amp (any speaker will do for a short while)

I unfortunately on't have a home stereo or another speaker. I was going to get a sub for my fiancé's car so I guess I might as well make that move now and use it to test. Is it possible for a sub to go "bad" and just be completely unresponsive but still ohm out correctly?

I got a different speaker today and hooked it up to the amp with 3 different sets of RCA cables. I tried the sub that worked last week and a good Rockford Fosgate Punch speaker I forgot I had. There was a little bit of crackling (very faint) coming through the punch speaker when I was putting the speaker wires on it but it never played any sound. I get nothing with the sub woofer. Does anyone know what could cause this? Also the h/u that I was using (my old one that for sure worked) had RCA jacks for the component speakers. Just for ***** and giggles I hooked up the RCA cables to that and still got no sound. I feel like it's not happening at the head unit or the amp considering both were working last week and are reputable name brands (Kenwood h/u and JL amp). Also my sub and the other speaker I tried worked last week. I've tried multiple sets of speaker wire which aren't the issue. Literally all of this worked last week. The only thing that's changed is me splicing the wiring harness.

Question: could ANYTHING to do with the wiring harness for the h/u other than the remote (which is working and I didn't change) affect the functioning of the sub?
