I have a 2012 Bose+Nav and steering wheel controls. Besides the Kenwood NAV not appearing on the HUD, what other functions are lost (if any) when swapping to this HU?

Thanks much...
You have the option to retain all functions except HUD for navigation. If you buy the correct wiring harness it will give you the option to retain steering wheel controls, OnStar if you choose, your Bose amp and speakers, etc.
grady, I was wondering the same thing. I have a 2011 with Bose and Nav. I know I can keep the steering wheel button's on the right but what about the phone buttons on the left of the wheel? Will I have to use the touch screen on the head unit for phone calls?
Will the USB port in the center console still work?

My understanding from Crutchfield is the center console USB no longer functions. There is a USB output in the back of the Kenwood so I would assume a USB cable could be ran from the HU to the center console at the same point if the old port could be removed and a new one added.
I did not ask about the phone controls on the steering wheel but was told the mic in the A pillar would not work for the HU only OnStar so another mic needs to be placed somewhere.
I’m going to go back to Best Buy and speak with an installer. This may be a project I won’t do. I generally only use the USB port for music and, for me, the sound quality is fairly good with the Bose. I know the radio portion doesn’t sound as well as the USB.
I would like Apple car play but I don’t want wires dangling in places they are not now and putting a clip on mic somewhere to use the iPhone.
I may just end up just going with better speakers...

c6don, you can keep your phone buttons if you use the correct wiring interface along with keeping your steering wheel buttons. The Pac Audio interface can be reprogrammed to function with the phone answer and end call buttons, but out of the box it is programmed with the default settings.
Also, the factory USB won't work unless you replace it. In my case, i removed the factory one and used the small opening to run my usb and audio cable into the center console.
Also, like Grady mentioned you cannot reuse the factory phone mic so you need to install the one that comes with your head unit. I ran the wires and installed the new mic right next to the factory one and it pretty much goes unnoticed.
Thanks torch red, that answered my questions. I don't mind running the new Mic. I didn't want to loose the phone buttons or the USB in the console so I think I will do as you did. Sounds like a clean I stall. I will also add a backup camera.

If you don't care to retain OnStar, go with the Pac RP4-GM11. For some reason the reprogramming of the phone buttons is easier compared to the RP5-GM11. If you want to retain OnStar, go with the RP5 but reprogramming the phone button sometimes takes a phone call to support for some people.
