Default Ground locations

I'm getting ready for a major audio install in my C6 ZO6. I have a custom subwoofer enclosure that mounts directly behind the waterfall. My question is where can I run a ground for the amplifiers to? Underneath the carpet is all plastic (which I obviously can't ground to). I was thinking of following the negative battery line, and grounding to where that terminates. But I honestly prefer to ground as close to the amps as possible. Another idea I had was to weld some bolts upside down under the carpet, but again...all plastic. So now I'm also running into securing issues. I have some "L" brackets that I was going to use to bolt the box down...but not knowing where to find some chassis metal is proving a bit difficult. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance.

The frame itself runs along outside of the seats and up the door opening a bit. There is a factory ground point near the passenger seat belt, but you can also add your own as long as you get to clean bare metal there.

There is a ground location towards the bottom of the B pillar behind the plastic trim right there by the waterfall. There is one on the passenger and driver's side about 6-12 inches above the floor.

On the waterfall?

Also, what about the little hook for the child seat on the rear deck? That also looks to be perfectly viable.

How did you all secure your sub boxes? Any chance I can see a pic or two? You all are a big help!

The ground location I mentioned is on the B pillar and it was the location most commonly recommended when I was doing my install. It's behind the plastic molding where the seatbelt roll is but about 2/thirds the way down.

Cool. Shouldn't be too tough to find since I'm gutting the whole car.

How did you all "mount" your sub-boxes? (Not including stealth boxes) Or a beeter way to ask, how did you secure them?

In my case, liquid nailed a board to the car under the carpet.

I took a couple small boards and attached them to the car under the carpet with some liquid nails. I then covered it all by putting the carpet back. I then had some mounting points to use to secure my amp and sub box with screws through the carpet and into the wood. The wood is secured by the liquid nails but also to the carpet since the carpet gets sandwiched between the board and the item being secured.

No, no smells. You just have to let it dry. Really it all depends on how secure you want your box to be. Some guys only care to keep it from moving while driving, while others are more concerned about the box becoming a projectile if they are ever in a bad accident, which can be a real concern in a Corvette. You could attach it to the carpet via the board method also without the liquid nails and/or then run a strap under the carpet from the board to the rear of the car. I'm sure there may be some more options also if anyone else wants to chime in.
