Default C6 White noise with new HU and Crux SOCGM-17C

Hi guys,

Car is: C6, 08 non bose, non OnStar.
Ive just installed a new headunit Pioneer AVH-X491BHS and Crux SOCGM-17C wiring interface - however i experience a constant white noise.

The noise doesn't increase with volume going up, but it's a constant white noise / humming.
The noise is there in accessory mode and when the engine is on.

Ive read quite a few threads on the forum, but doesn't really help.

Crutchfield told me that i should ground HU directly to the frame - I've done this, but didn't solve the speaker noise..

Can anyone explain how to solve this "for dummies"?
Would it solve if i go for PAC instead of Crux module?

Thanks in advance

Even with PAC, I still use ground loop isolators. Otherwise I get noise.

It sounds to me like you are sending an amplified signal to your stock amplifier which is causing the white noise. I'm not too familiar with the Crux interface but does it have different directions for Bose and non-Bose models? If so, follow the directions for the cars with Bose. Otherwise, I would recommend going with one of the Pac models.

Its a non amplifier system, and i guess most Ground loops is for RCA?

the Cruz has a bose and non bose. I have tried both inputs, the noise level reduces when i plug into the bose input of the Crux, however its still there the noise.

Even the non Bose system uses a factory amp.

This was my point exactly.

To the OP, I would try going with a Pac Audio, either the RP4-GM11 or the RP5-GM11. Either would work, only the RP4 doesn't have an OnStar option.

Are you running amplifiers or...what's your setup? Just the head unit?

The factory amp is junk. I would also like to see how they have it wired (which i'll be doing this weekend). But, I bet they have signal wires and power wires in the same bundle which would cause excessive noise. Oddly, I have an aftermarket HU in my car with the factory amps and I don't get white noise. I'll take a look at how it was installed before I rip it all out.

Nikolaj, your issue still sounds like a signal problem to your amp. If you are reluctant to change the Crux, there is a simple fix you can try. Try buying some RCA to speaker wire adapters and then run the connection from your head unit's RCA jacks to the speaker wire. The RCA jacks send out a pre-amp signal that your amp should have no issues with.

Just did a search since I have seen this issue with the Crux before. Here is a thread that discusses a similar issue and fix. Could be helpful.

yeah sounds similar to what i have read aswell. I just purchased the Pac interface instead of the crux, i assume this will solve it.
