Default About to order the rest of my sound system

Okay so I’m a total noob to car audio. I think I’ve narrowed down what I want to install in the car but I want to run it by you guys plus ask a couple of questions. My car is a 2010 Grand Sport non bose system. I’ve already installed a Kenwood 9904s.

The system will consist of
1. Morel Tempo Ultra 602 components
2. 4 channel amp
3. Jl 10w3v3-2 sub woofer with a 500 watt Rockford Fosgate amp.

Doe this look like I’m going in the right direction with this? I’m unsure of what 4 channel amp to get but I’d like to stick to sub 200 dollars on it. I also still need to order the brackets for the door speakers and a wiring kit. Is there anything else I’m missing? Any input from you gurus would be great so I’m all ears.

Thanks guys

I went with the following setup i'n my 2010 Grand Sport
Kenwood Excelon DNX892
Kenwood Excelon XR900-5
5-channel car amplifier — 60 watts RMS x 4 at 4 ohms + 600 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms

2 JL Audio 8W3v3-4 W3v3 Series 8" 4-ohm subwoofer
2 JL Audio C2650 Evolution™ C2 Series 6-3/4" component speaker system
2 Kicker 40CS54 5-1/4" 2-way car speakers

I felt going with 10s would be too much for such a small cabin space.
I've also never been able to play my system above 22 as it is painfully loud being that. Sounds friggin amazing.

That setup looks like it would be pretty nice. I was looking at the Morel 602 and decided instead to go with a set of Focal components. Here is what I am having installed in my '13 GS this weekend:

Kenwood Excelon DDX9904s w/ XM
Focal Performance 165AS 6.5" component
Focal Performance PC 130 5.25" rears
JL Audio Stealthbox w/ W1v3 10" 2-ohm sub
Rockford Fosgate Punch P1000X5 amp

I am contemplating replacing the JL sub with a Rockford Fosgate P3D2-10. It all depends if it will fit into the Stealthbox.

Would I be alright with not going with rear speakers?

Some people on here just go with 6.5" components in the doors and a sub in the back.

I wouldn't. Rear speakers complete the sound stage IMO. My 5.25's are actually louder/clearer than my 6.5's (until I just the time distances).

putting in the rears is the difference between listening to your music and feeling it.

Wouldn’t the subwoofer make up for that?

No. A sub plows freq below 100 hz (typically) where as another set of normal speakers plays the rest of the audible range. It remove half of your systems capability in my opinion. Others have done it...but can't imagine them sounding better than a 4 speaker system.

If done correctly with quality equipment, either combination (fronts only or front and rear) could work and sound great. If done incorrectly and/or with sub par equipment, either combination could fail. To each their own.

If you're running a four (5if including dash) system and not felt the music of having subs you don't know what your missing. As my son put it "dad, you just ruined my music"
He had no idea what I had been telling him about feeling the music and not just listening to it until I took him for a ride and cranked it up a bit.

Not to confuse anyone, but I didn’t mean to imply you didn’t need a sub. All aftermarket systems for the C6 should include a sub in the rear. My comments pertained only to doing front and/or front and rear speakers. The addition of a sub is a given, just to be clear.

Well guys I went ahead and pulled the trigger. As I said I already have my jl 10w3v3 sub and an amp for it. Now I have a set of morel tempo ultra 602 components on the way with a nvx jad 800.4 amp. I’ll bridge the components and run it as a two way amp for now (and adjust the gain accordingly), but I went with this amp so Incase I ever do decide to go with read speakers, my amp will still have more than enough power. Also got the speaker brackets and wiring kits. Should all come in next week and hopefully I’ll be able to install it that weekend. I’ll keep you guys posted.
