i'm looking to purchase some components for my 89, just wondering what sixe exactly should fit in the doors? I'm to lazy to take off the grill and check :D
yeah i've heard from many people, that the closer you mount the tweeter the better sound you will have. So what i'd probably end up doing is mounting it on the speaker grill, i've seen it done before and it does sound better.....if not ON the speaker grill as close as I can

Then your legs block a good deal of the sound, unfortunately.

even if i was to point the tweeter in a direction where my legs wouldn't be in the way....well i guess the best way to find out is trial and error, hehe.
I have CDT Audio Cambria 600's in the rear of my C5 and they sound great. I had to change the direction of mounting as I was getting my head blown off by the highs coming from the rear. I have the CDT Audio component set 52's in the doors of my car and have them imaged as stated by others towards the opposite side head area. I haven't really had a problem with the sound that is being imaged from either my door or the passenger door. It sounds pretty spatial to me. I am going to change the JL sub amp and sub to something with a bit more power but that is another topic.
