My Pioneer system came with the camera https://www.pioneerelectronics.com/P...n/AVIC-8201NEX bought an additional one so I have both front and rear cameras. The Pioneer cameras are very high quality and have very good low light performance.

I bought 3 different cameras before settling for the Natika 720P. I have two of them, one backup camera and one facing forward in the grill for parking. Both connected to a Kenwood DNS574s head unit.

I purchased the Pioneer ND-BC8 to hook up to my AVIC-8400 NEX to use as a back-up camera and was thinking of adding a front camera. How does the camera function as a front facing one and most importantly, where and how did you mount it? Is it worth the trouble adding the front camera?

Nakita 720P on Amazon
I was about to order this camera to use as a front facing one until I read all the negative reviews on Amazon. How long have you had yours installed and are you still happy with it?

About a year. The Vette is not my daily driver, but I put about 4000 miles on it and no issues with the camera yet. Some of the negative reviews are silly IMO. For example, one guy said the camera quit after a few weeks and then said 3 others did the same thing. This points to another issue rather than the camera IMO. My front camera is an ESKY 720
Esky 720P Esky 720P
which I've had a bit longer and it's fine also. I'm in South Florida, so plenty of heat and rain and so far so good on both. On the wiring for the front camera where the RCA and power connector connect to the extension cable, I did put a large piece of heat shrink tubing since it's right behind the grill and a lot of air is moving around in there. Time will tell how they hold up, but they're relatively inexpensive and easily replaced if needed.

I'm a believer in the old saying "you get what you pay for" in this case you buy a cheap camera, you get a cheap camera. Having the front camera is nice for parking purposes, to see how close you are to parking blocks so you don't mess your front end up.

I wouldn't spend too much on a camera. First of all they are easy to replace once installed and wires are already run. That being said, I found that most cheap cameras work just as well as some of the more expensive ones. As far as the Pioneer camera, I think they are extremely overpriced because they are marketed towards those who are looking to match the brand of their camera to their head unit. I have been running a $17 Pyle camera for over 2 years with no issues.

I'm thinking of going with one of the cheap ones posted in this thread for my front facing camera. For those of you that have one on the front, where did you mount it for the best view without it getting ripped off going up steep driveways? Any pics? Thanks.

I mounted it with 3M tape (which it came with) to the grill area. Not under the bumper lip, so no issues with ground clearance.

Front camera mounted in grill.

Ah, much easier to find a place to mount on a C6 than my C5. Thanks for taking time to post the pics and quick responses.

Can you turn the lines off on the front camera or do you find them helpful?

Yes, you can turn off the lines. I like them though, the red line is the distance I want from a concrete parking block.
