Sudden and dramatic loss of sensitivity: V1, purchased in July, is hardwired in my C5. It's mounted on the windshield, left of the mirror, and has been working fine, until a few days ago. I drive the same streets every day, so I know what sources (store door openers, speed signs, etc.) set it off. In commercial areas, I always get signals on x and k, from the same places. Now I'm getting almost nothing (same for A, l, and L modes). It powers up OK, and cycles normally, and I'm 99.9% certain it's not a power issue. Thought I'd check with you folks before calling (choke) Customer Service. Any ideas? Thanks...
He stated it was doing the same thing in all modes.
I'd call V1's tech support and tell them what it's doing. I've had nothing but good service for them. If you just got it in July, I believe it's still under the original warranty and won't be a problem anyway. I've actually had one of my boards replaced out of warranty at NO CHARGE. They are very good about customer service. If it looks like it's been taken care of, they will take care of you. Now if it looks like it's been dropped off a cliff and now it doesn't work, then I'd expect them to charge you for it. BTW, they even replaced the lenses on mine while it was in for service. Looked almost new when I got it back. :yesnod:
Called Valentine and they said, "Send it to us and we'll fix it." Took it out for one last test before pack & ship. Now it's working. Good grief! Guess I'll wait and see. Thanks.
What did you do? Did you change the placement on the windscreen? Mess with the cord? At times my cord moves in such a manner that it will not cease falsing :mad

I changed to the coiled cord, drove down a street with known sources of radar. It worked. Then, returned to the hardwired cord, and repeated the drive. It worked. (The old "mess-with-the-cord" test).
