I just received all the door speakers and the dash speaker along with the Bose amp from a member on here. They all look pristine and I am excited to get decent sounds back.
I popped the driver door off and my old woofer which recently joined the passenger side with crappy crackles. Reading about the others with water issues and separations from the Cone, I figured I would see the problem clearly on the old one. I don't see any rust, or any evidence of water damage.
It looks basically as good as the ones I got today.
Is there a certain area to look at? I looked at the middle of the cone and it seems attached and along the outside edge I do not see any separation. The speaker looks fine. hopefully it isn't something else. Still plan on replacing them since I got them, but hopefully I don't have the same poor sound with the new ones in.
Also, the ones in the door had the sticky lining around the edge. I imagine I should get some of that for the new ones before I put is in, correct?
Nevermind. Just looked at the speaker again and pushing on the cone slightly on the back center I can see where it is detached. Relief. Now to get some tunes going again without being embarrassed. Probably will fix the old ones for spares, now that I see where it is apart, looks to be pretty easy fix.
That is at the bottom of the speaker, so guess just a bit of moisture gets in there and settles and before long. Will have to look at some sort of shield to add to them soon.

New Woofers installed. Easier than I was thinking it would be. Now to go for a high volume cruise
Well I know one thing, good Bose Woofers sound better than bad Bose woofers! So glad to have that back. Now for Crutchfield to get that stupid Alpine back in stock.

Sandman, glad you got it fixed. This issue is coming up more and more as the cars age. Seems to be more so with the 2012-13 model years. Hopefully the problem doesn't reoccur down the road. Or at least not any time soon.
