Need advice on backup camera.
I’m finally updating my 2002 Coupe I’ve had for about 10-12 years. The only thing that I think the Vette needs to be equal to any other modern car is navigation, backup camera, and Sirius XM. When I’m sitting in it, it’s hard to believe that it’s a 20 year old car. Only 63K miles on it. I ordered the Metra dash kit. I’m going with the Alpine iLX-W650 with theKTA-450 Amp because 1) it seems to be getting lots of good reviews, and 2) I’ve been an Alpine guy since I bought my first aftermarket stereo for my ’79 Belinetta back in 1983. Speakers will be Alpine Type S that I bought for a project but never installed.
The only things that I don’t know are what kind of camera to use, and what USB/input device jack to use. I’ve done a search of the forum here, but I haven’t found much to go by on the camera. Looking for recommendations on which one to buy. I’m not particularly concerned with the price. I just want something that will have good resolution and decent low light performance. Better to spend more up front than to spend the next few years being pissed at the poor picture quality. I’ll look around for the input device jack and come up with something.
What are the current recommendations on good quality backup cameras?
Thanks,
Mark
edit: On the USB/input device, I was initially going to use one of those jacks that go in the cigarette lighter hole, but I've decided to keep the cigarette lighter. I have lots of things that charge using Mini USB, Micro USB, and USB C, so a cigarette lighter is good to have easily accessible. I'm thinking the input device jack will be recessed in the well beneath the climate controls.
