I know you just have to use some type of photo editing program to get it to the size and dimensions required for your screen.

My Pioneer does also. I suggest you give Crutchfeild a call and ask them which models have this feature, the problem right now is availability https://www.crutchfield.com/S-cTOH6EJ2OYU/

I have a 2440 NEX ( a couple of years old, so not a new model) and it does not allow an image to be uploaded to the home screen, you can only use the preinstalled ones from pioneer

I have a 2550 NEX and it DOES allow custom pictures, so it sounds like anything from a 2500 NEX (from my understanding, 2550 is simply a 2500 with an included remote control) up will work.
