Finally upgraded factory head unit with Kennwood DMX 9708s and added front and rear cameras as well as removed center dash speaker. Transformation was awesome. I know a lot of people complain about the Bose system but I have never had any complaints. Even with top down always sounded good. So much better with new headunit and center speaker removed. Removed the cig lighter and installed a usb/aux connector that fit perfectly.
Congrats on the new head unit. I always say that replacing the factory unit with a decent aftermarket unit, is a must-do mod. You get better sound out of the factory speakers plus all the modern features available.
Yep a new head unit was the very first modification I made to my Vette when I got it, big difference in sound and functionality. Since then I've also added a subwoofer that I designed and built for my vert, and a sub amp to power it to add the needed bass the stock speakers lack, sounds awesome now. I too disconnected the center speaker.
Congrats on the upgrade. Head unit and Dynamat - first mods that I made. Huge improvement. I left the center channel connected and it still sounded great.
Thanks TorchRedFred. It is amazing how good it sounds with new head unit and disconnecting center speaker.
Before I did my full upgrade, I installed my Pioneer head unit. Sound was much improved, more than I expected. Plus you get all the modern features available. Enjoy it, you did a great thing.
