Don't pull the fronts. You will rip off the tabs that hold it in place. The rears pop out with small scewdriver, but you'll have to remove the door panel to get to the fronts. Its pretty easy. There are instructions and pictures on Vetteesentials.com
1.) Remove the plastic piece behind the door pull
2.) Unscrew the two torx scews under the door handle
3.) remove the plastic piece surrounding the ock mechanism.
4.) Remove the reflector
5.) Pry and pull the bottom and side out of the plastic snap connectors.
6.) Disconnect the window button wires.
7.) Lift the door off the top ledge
you can remove the Bose speaker panel by pulling from the bottom first.
Rear speakers are 5'.5".
This is incorrect. The rear speakers in a C5 vert, z06, and FRC are 5.25". They are 6.5" in a coupe. You have to remove the trim pannels to get at them as well.
Anyone have pics of the removal of the rear speaker? I have the bose setup, so when I remove the rear speaker, is there any modification or can I just buy a new 5 1/4 speaker with no issue? Is there a depth to watch out for? I think i need at least 2 1/2 inch clearance.

The rear speakers are run from deck power, so there is no issue with the Bose system here. The depth is a concern on the drivers side due to the gas door release mechanism. I know that a set of Infinity Kappa 5.25i's will fit. Look up the mounting depth on those and go from there.
I had no problem pulling the Bose grills, the tabs bend when you pull it off. Bend them back and slide back on from top to bottom.
And I do applogize for the 5.5" call on the back, the stock size is 5.25". Sorry.
Go to http://www.vetteessentials.com/ and click on the how-to section. I don't have any of Ken's stuff yet because my car is still new, but check out all his cool stuff too.
P.S. the rear speaker covers just pulled off in my 02 vert.
As long as I can just pull off the rear ones Im okay. I bought the door handles from them. (Since Ill be removing the door, I might as well replace the handles now). I also will be dynamating the doors as well..
Depth is pretty much a non-issue on the front door speakers. You have proably more than 6", even some subwoofers are not that deep. As far as the rear goes, all I can tell you is that the Infinity 5.25i's will fit there. Why not just pull the panel off an measure it? The drivers side has less depth than the passenger side.
Last question in the rear anyone know if I can fit
Bottom Mount 2-1/2" (6.35cm) (Polk EX352 speakers)
I checked the specs of the Kappa 5.25i's they state you need 2- 1/16 bottom mounting depth.. So we know I got at least 2 1/16 room but can I get another 7/16th to fit?

(99 vert)
The specs I read are 2-1/8" TOP mount depth for the Kappas. What is the TOP mount depth on those Polks?
