I'm new to this part of the forum and this part of the car. I am wanting to replace the dash speakers (4x6), put in a new cd player. and possibly some 6x9's in the back of my '77. I have the full system in my dakota but do not wish to go that far with the vette. I have been looking at some Sony head units and some Audiobahn 4x6 plate speakers. What do you guys think of these? suggestions?
mho, the best 4x6's are Cerwin Vegas. Infiniti 4x6 plates arent bad. Pioneer 6x9s are good, but i dont like their 4x6's.
Fortunately with entry level brands, you can go to stores and listen to it before you buy... so I suggest you do that. Just dont buy junk (sony) or questionable quality product (audiobahn.)
i cant really tell a difference in the low end stuff anymore to be honest. they all sound scratchy and thin... infinitis are plates and sound a little better than pioneers that are oval.. go fig.
just listen and see.\

Re: need advice (jonny4523)
If you absolutely HAVE to go with a 4x6 speaker use the plates. They do sound better than the oval 4x6's by far. Go with Alpine for a HU, even their lower priced units are good quality. Don't waste your time on Sony and Audiobahn.
